Careers as lumberjacks for the Forestry Commission compounded their friendship further but as with most inquisitive youths, travelling
took hold of them both. Mark wandered around in his flip-flops looking for flavours and inspiration in India and Tibet while Rob surfed some of Australia’s best breaks in an old Toyota Hi-Ace. In 2005 for the first time in nearly 5 years the pair found themselves back in the same county. Rob now in the financial sector with Black Horse and Mark picking up his old chef knives and putting them to good use in some very popular restaurants in Truro. A couple of weddings and children later and the boys still find time to get up to mischief, this time as the Bearded Brewery Company – brewers of fine Cornish Cider and original birthplace of ‘Suicyder – Juice from the Noose.’
Born from a desire to be self-sufficient, the boys realised they had an exceptional product even after the first demijohn and began to steadily increase they’re brewing potential. has begun to make a bit of a name for itself with biker boy branding and a distinct no frills attitude. So there you have it! An Old Grey Whistle Test of a life history culminating in one hell of a tasty beverage. At a time where cider everywhere seems to be getting drier and drier, imagine a tattooed, leather clad Hells Angel in a ballerina outfit and you’ll just about be there. The Original and the best, Suicyder – Juice from the Noose is a sweet kick in the teeth and a true testament to mischief spanning over 25 years of friendship with 25 more to come.
