📣 We are thrilled to announce The Madcap’s Lasting Laugh, an 8-day festival running from 4th-11th July, celebrating the unveiling of Syd Barrett's iconic floorboards. It's 20 years since the Pink Floyd singer's death, and The Piper will be hosting events including shows, discussions, films screenings and special celebrations.

🌀 On July 4th, join us for Syd's Last Stand. An evening with Syd Barrett biographer Rob Chapman in discussion with Tony Higgins. projections and cosmic sounds.

🌀 The Bevis Frond have ultimately become the UK’s leading underground psychedelic rock band. Their music is an iconoclastic collision of distinctly British psychedelia, space-rock, grunge, slow-burning soulful laments, even grizzled folk and more than occasional moments of sublime pop genius.

🐰🦌 We are delighted to announce that appearing with The Bevis Frond will be Marc Riley faves The Hare and Hoofe who will be ramming prog into garage, skipping spiral-eyed through pastoral meadows and chiseling mighty riffs from solid granite to tell stories of lovelorn space probes, myxomatosis and time-travelling.

Join us for the release of Demsey Emson's debut single 'Memories' with incredible support from the pop punk princes of FIRST FORM and the multi-genre gentleman, KONARUCCHI.

30 years on and Post-Grunge is alive, strong and here to stay! Demsey's music is heavily inspired by the flannel-clad powerhouses of the 90s and early 2000s and has been described as "Foo Fighters meets Pearl Jam". The music oozes the moodiness, Seattle sadness and grunge riffs of the era while bringing a modern take to the beloved style.

📣 ON SALE NOW! Pete Bassman (Spacemen 3) + Thee Lucifer Sams + Black Arches play The Piper on Sunday 18th October

🌀The Liverpool Psychedelic Society brings to The Piper the one and only Pete Bassman, from the legendary Spacemen 3.

👨‍🚀 Pete Bassman (aka Pete Bain) is one of the original members of Spacemen 3, one of the most influential psych bands of all time. From modest beginnings in Rugby, Spacemen 3 went on to influence generations of psych rockers worldwide with albums such as 'Sound of Confusion', 'The Perfect Prescription' and 'Performance'.

💫 Pete left Spacemen 3 (and was replaced by Will Carruthers) and formed other influential and equally excellent projects, such as The Darkside and Alpha Stone. Pete Bassman is the only original member of Spacemen 3 still based in Rugby and, for our money, he remains the best and most "spaceman" member of Spacemen 3. His live sets are real psychedelic trips and he's STILL light years ahead of anyone else on the scene. Simply unmissable.

💭 Main support on the night will be Thee Lucifer Sams, the visionary psychedelic rock band from Liverpool, who refuse to do social media profiles or stream their music: their semi-improvised jams reminiscent of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd , mixed with Hawkwind drive and Sonic Youth noise can only be experienced live. Audiences as far afield as Germany, Iceland and Sweden have enjoyed their sets - no two Thee Lucifer Sams shows are ever the same, and they were lauded by renowned writer John Robb as "stunning" live.

🗼Black Arches are an experimental group from Hastings, fusing psychedelia, electronics, spoken word and noise rock in wild live improvisations. They regularly collaborate with Medway Scene legend Sexton Ming and are not to be missed!

Liverpool Psychedelic Society nights are more than just gigs, but true psychedelic happenings, with visuals and great vibes all night. Early finish (10pm)

💫 Jerry Dammers is the founder, main songwriter and keyboard player of the UK ska/rock/reggae band The Specials, and the founder of the 2 Tone record label.

👻 In the late seventies and early eighties, The Specials/Special AKA had many hits with a message, including the haunting Ghost Town and the anti-Apartheid anthem Free Nelson Mandela . He started DJ ing at the Wag Club with Paul Weller at a benefit for the miners’ strike in 1984, and has carried on ever since, building up a reputation as a deejay.”

🗼This is another side of JERRY DAMMERS (founder of THE SPECIALS and 2 TONE) playing a DJ set of 70s funk , funky reggae and reggae (the music he dug before the days of 2Tone)

BERNARD BUTLER plays The Piper on Friday 10th July as part of The Madcap's Lasting Laugh, our celebration of the life of Syd Barrett featuring the unveiling of his iconic floorboards.

⭐ Bernard Butler is a Brit and Grammy Award winning musician. In 1989 he formed Suede releasing the Mercury winning debut “Suede”. The era-defining “Dog Man Star” was followed by his collaboration with David McAlmont on the anthem ”Yes".

💥 Two solo albums on Creation yielded a Brit nomination before producing seminal releases by The Libertines, Tricky, Black Kids, Kate Nash, James Morrison, Texas, Mark Eitzel, Paloma Faith and Duffy - spawning her Grammy and Brit Award winning debut Rockferry.

💭 He has played guitar for Pet Shop Boys, Bryan Ferry, Roy Orbison, Bert Jansch, The Libertines, Neneh Cherry, Robert Plant and Ben Watt.
