Just a short drive from The George Hotel lies one of Cumbria's most intriguing ancient landmarks – King Arthur's Round Table.

Despite its name, the site actually dates back to around 2000 BC, making it thousands of years older than the legends of King Arthur. This prehistoric henge monument is thought to have been used for ceremonial gatherings and important community events.

Located at Eamont Bridge, just outside Penrith, it's one of several remarkable ancient sites in the area and offers a fascinating glimpse into Cumbria's distant past.
