The building of The Royal Oak is about two hundred years old and is thought by some to have been a hosiery factory hence the rather unusual vaulted brick ceiling in the bar which certainly would have carried the weight of the appropriate textiles machinery above. Richard & Vicky are members of the British Institute of Innkeeping. With Vicky offering her delicious culinary delights from the kitchen & Richard behind the bar with his fantastic tasting Cask Marque approved traditional real ales you are sure of a warm welcome and enjoyable experience but look out for the reported ghost of a Roman Centurion roaming the building!!
