The Admiral would approve ⚓

In 1850, the Cavanagh-Mainwaring family named this little village pub after one of their own - Vice Admiral Rowland Mainwaring, a proud servant of the Royal Navy.

Nearly 175 years on, his name still sits above our door in Whitmore, and we think he’d feel right at home.

We’re not trying to be anything fancy…Just a village pub doing things the right way…local ales from local breweries, a rum selection that nods to the Navy he served in, and food made fresh every day from ingredients sourced as close to home as we can get them. Oh, and two fires that we light the moment the temperature drops.

Come hungry, and stay as long as you like... we don’t take bookings (aside from larger groups) so pop in and pick you favourite table.
