A week ago today, we welcomed the Tour de Cat riders to the Mainwaring Arms! 🚴‍♀️

They were taking part in the Cheshire Cat Pubs Cycle Challenge, a 7 pub charity bike ride in aid of the North-West Air Ambulance, stopping off with us on their route between the Church Inn and the finish line at the Bulls Head, both in Mobberley, Cheshire 📍

We are pleased to announce they raised an incredible £1,045 for charity on the day!

Thank you to our sponsor Boutinot Wines for their support, and to everyone who took part or came out to cheer the riders on. A brilliant effort for a brilliant cause.

There’s a particular kind of comfort in a pub with the fire going, so as soon as the weather turned slightly the first thing we did was light ours 🔥

As we settle into cosy season, the kitchen team have been creating some comforting specials to suit the change of temperature.

Pictured is the Chorizo and Beef Burger with smoky mayo, chips and salad, and the Creamy Garlic Italian free range Chicken Breast with mash and tenderstem broccoli.

Dave, owner of the , has been here at the Mainwaring Arms this weekend for our Rum & Music Festival, hosting tastings and talking all things rum with the team and guests🍹

Dave helped put together the pub’s very own Rum Bible, a collection he’s genuinely proud of, and today feels like the perfect day to invite you in to dig into it with us.

Rum has one of the richest histories of any spirit out there: sugar cane, sea trade, naval tradition, centuries of craft passed down across the Caribbean and beyond.

Every bottle has a story of where it’s from and how it’s made, and that’s exactly what Dave loves sharing with people.

We hope you’ll be inspired to try something new from across the globe today 🌍 and don’t miss the pub’s very own rum while you’re at it, it more than holds its own alongside the very best.

Happy National Rum Day! 🏴‍☠️

If any pub in the country should be raising a glass today, it's us.

The Mainwaring Arms takes its name from Admiral Rowland Mainwaring ⚓, ancestor of the Cavanagh-Mainwaring family of nearby Whitmore Hall (and yes, the very same Mainwaring name that inspired Captain Mainwaring in Dad's Army). So our love of rum isn't just a passing trend, it's a nod to naval history running through the pub's very name.

That's why we've built our very own Rum Bible 📖🥃: a reference guide to our full collection, featuring 25 rums of the year and seven signature cocktail serves, all paying homage to the Admiral and the Royal Navy he served in.

Not sure where to start? Try our own rum, crafted in tribute to Admiral Rowland Mainwaring and the Royal Navy he served in, and it's fast become a firm favourite behind our bar!
