🍴 Our Current Menu at The Kings Arms Inn

Whether you’re joining us for a beautifully cooked pub classic or fancy trying something a little different, there’s plenty to enjoy on our current menu.

Our à la carte menu celebrates some fantastic local and seasonal produce, with dishes including:

🦌 New season Wiltshire venison – roasted loin, braised venison pithivier, glazed carrot, carrot purée, pickled pear & venison jus

🐟 Pan-roasted Brixham po***ck – leek, tenderstem broccoli, caviar, crispy potato, dill & Ch*****ne sauce

🍗 Roasted free-range chicken breast – celeriac, leek, Montacute blackberries & red w**e jus

🌱 Willow Farm red onion squash – spelt ‘risotto’, roasted squash, pickled carrot, radish & toasted pumpkin seeds

Alongside these you’ll still find the pub classics we all love – our cider-battered haddock & chips, Somerset steak burger, honey-glazed ham, ploughman’s and more.

And definitely leave room for dessert… 🍯 Our Montacute honey panna cotta with honey-roasted peach, homemade honey ice cream & granola has quickly become a favourite.

We want The Kings Arms to be somewhere you can pop in for a pint and a great plate of fish & chips, while also being somewhere you can enjoy some really special seasonal cooking.

Roasted Wiltshire Venison Loin
Braised venison pithivier • glazed carrot • carrot purée • pickled pear • rich venison jus

Beautifully tender venison, served pink, alongside a crisp golden pithivier filled with slow-braised venison. The sweetness of the carrot is balanced with sharp pickled pear and finished with a rich venison jus.

A proper celebration of new-season British venison and some of the flavours we love at this time of year.

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen team at our busy independent pub, restaurant and hotel in the beautiful village of Montacute, Somerset.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in producing fresh, seasonal food, enjoys working with quality local ingredients and is keen to continue developing the food offering at The Kings Arms Inn.

The position:

💷 £40,000–£45,000 per year, depending on experience
💰 Plus tips, paid monthly
🏖️ 28 days paid holiday
📅 5 days out of 7
🍽️ Weekend and Bank Holiday working required
⭐ AA Rosette experience preferred, but not essential

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation, leading and developing the kitchen team, menu development, stock and cost control, food safety and ensuring consistency across every service.

We’d particularly like to hear from chefs with experience in fresh-food pubs, restaurants or hotels who are comfortable combining well-executed pub classics with more refined, seasonal dishes.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of a kitchen and help us continue to develop and raise the standard of our food offering.

🎄 Our Christmas Party Menu is Here! 🎄

Christmas might still feel a little way off, but we’re already looking forward to welcoming you for plenty of festive celebrations at The Kings Arms Inn, Montacute. ✨

Our Christmas Menu will be available from 30th November and throughout December (excluding Christmas Day), filled with seasonal dishes, festive favourites and plenty of homemade treats.

🎄 2 Courses – £30
🎄 3 Courses – £35

We’ll also be starting your meal with homemade bread for the table, a little something from our kitchen before you tuck into your festive feast.

Whether it’s your work Christmas party, family get-together, Christmas catch-up with friends or simply an excuse for a festive meal, we’d love to celebrate with you. 🥂

Our Christmas menu is pre-order only, with a £10 per person non-refundable deposit required to secure your booking. We kindly ask for menu choices to be with us by the beginning of December so we can make sure everything is ordered and prepared for your celebration.

Due to a couple of late cancellations, we now have two rooms available for this evening and we’re offering a special Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package for two when you book directly with us.

✨ Executive Suite – £220 for two
✨ Double Deluxe Room – £210 for two

Your stay includes:

🍽️ 3-course dinner for two (supplements may apply to selected dishes)
🛏️ A comfortable overnight stay
