It’s a full flavoured juicy blend of all the traditional cider apple varieties grown on the estate. We’re delighted to bring a taste of Somerset to Hornchurch. We’ve got a new book! We’re all looking forward to reading ‘37 Inventions That Built Our World’ from author Jonn Elledge We were big fans of his previous book, ‘A History Of The World In 47 Borders’. Both are fantastic choices if you are thinking of Christmas gifts in the coming months. Welcome to our Indy Pub special Bank Holiday weekend and an 80’s vibe this evening at The Hop. We’ve been stamping cards already and we’ll be waving people off to Gidea Park Micropub and Upminster Taproom for their next drinks. Come and see us this evening and Saturday for some nostalgic cocktails and we’ll be joined by The Giggly Pig Company on Sunday for some of their fabulous bangers and burgers outside the pub. With hints of red berry, citrus and a delicate floral note, this subtle blend of Pinot Noir, Bacchus, Pinot Meunier and Faber delivers an elegant, naturally sparkling Kentish masterpiece!

We had another brilliant middle-of-the-month-Wednesday tasting last night with 34 lovely beer lovers and some fresh and delicious brews from the legendary Thornbridge Brewery Brewery. We talked about the importance of this Derbyshire classic in the development of the British independent quality beer scene. From the balanced and sessionable Wild Swan to the groundbreaking icon Jaipur. Alison, Connor and Andrew guided the tasting with some great tasting notes and questions from the usual knowledgeable (and delightfully thirsty) Hornchurch tasting crowd. We flirted with a beautifully balanced sour, a West Coast style pale and finished up with Andrew’s take on the 10% Bracia made with Italian honey! We had to mention the incredible save of the 6 barrel section of the Burton Union Set, now working at the brewery and thank goodness it wasn’t all lost! There is some of the beer left - so pop in and have a sample while you can. Here’s to independent brewers and fantastic quality beer! Alison Taffs thanks to Andrew Conway for the pics as always.

Andrew and Alison are sampling amazing Marzen Rauchbier - from cool cellars under the town of Bamberg in Bavaria. We love this from brewery and we’re delighted to have it as our current beer on the bar. Savoury bonfire balanced by a sweet malty mid palate and a clean dry finish. The malt is dried with beechwood and the smoke permeates into the malt, making the beer fragrant and exciting! If you are interested in beer haven’t sampled it -it’s a must try. If you like smoked bacon, smoky meats or smoked cheeses grab a bottle to take away to match with this. It’s also perfect with your next Barbecue! 🍖 🍗🍔🌭🥓
