Last night, DJ Howie Roscoe said farewell after an incredible 27½ years of Sunday nights at the Fatling (once the Fatling and Firkin/The Bull) on the High Street in Hornchurch, Essex.

As you can hear from the heartfelt words of those who gathered to celebrate him, Howie has been far more than just a DJ, he’s been the heart and soul of the pub 💙

Over nearly three decades, he witnessed huge changes. He started out with 7-inch singles and turntables and finished with a hard drive and console. Through it all, his passion never changed.
He sacrificed countless family occasions, Sunday roast dinners, and precious time with loved ones to remain loyal to the pub and community he loved so much. Rarely missing a Sunday, even on days when he wasn’t feeling his best, he always found the energy to get behind the decks and put on a show for the people of Hornchurch.

He’s seen generations come and go, celebrated marriages, watched families grow, and stood alongside the community through loss and heartbreak. For many, Sunday nights at the Fatling simply wouldn’t have been the same without him.

After 27½ years of dedication, loyalty, and unforgettable memories, he deserves a medal for his service.

This Father’s Day, for the first time in many years, he will get to spend it with his family. It’s bittersweet, because we know exactly where he’d rather be, at the Fatling, on his stage, with his people, being the legend that he is.

You will be sorely missed, Howie. Thank you for everything. 💙
