BIG THANKS to all our friends and customers who attended last Sunday's Jazz, with TJ Johnson and his band. Thanks also for all the birthday wishes, presents, and cards. You made it a great birthday bash. It was nice too that we were all able to celebrate the life of our good friend, Banjo player, the late Duncan Chalmers, and drink to his memory by furnished from his estate, good ol' Duncan.

Sad news, Our good friend and supporter Duncan Chalmers passed away quietly on 1st April. It is believed he died in his sleep, aged 78.

Duncan was a retired Bookmaker's shop manager in Dalston, London, and also a top Banjo Player for some of the top Trad Jazz bands in the UK. He appeared regularly with the "Eastside Stompers", and later became a founder member of Dave Waskett's "New Stompers", a Band that still appears monthly at 'The Globe' after 21 years. Duncan played Banjo at the Globe for the first Trad Jazz session ever held at the Pub.

Sadly Duncan was forced to give up his life on the Jazz circuit approx 10 years ago after suffering serious damage to his left arm and right hand in a road accident, in Morning Lane. (right outside the Globe).
He really was a great character and loved a good pint of Bitter.
Through the Globe, he made many friends and became a member & supporter of The London Ex-Boxers Association, where he became pals with Sam Soraf, who was able to help Duncan secure a flat at Greenacre Court where Sam lives. Our deepest sympathies go to Duncan's brother Robin who lives in Seatle USA, Marge & Carole his "carers", all his friends on the Jazz Circuit, and the Racing fraternity of Dalston, what a guy, what a loss, RIP "Duncan Disorderly", we're goin' to miss you.
