Loads of new liquid hit the bar this week and last!

Anything from a £5 a dram for the 14 year old Glen Garioch, all the way up to the very rare, yet still well priced for what it is Springbank 21 year old at £23 a dram.

The average price for the rest is around £8 a dram which is astounding value for the level of wh**ky.

The spicy marg has become a firm favourite at HopScotch. We do put a bit of a twist on the spicy element...

Scotch Bonnets are finely chopped and steeped in 95% grain alcohol for a week, after which the liquid is filtered and brought down to about 70%. We use about 5mL in each cocktail which adds a nice level of heat with the fruitiness of Scotch Bonnets. Only £9 and you'll love it!

SPICY MARGS 🌶️

The Spicy Marg has become a bit of a staple in Hopscotch. We add a bit of a twist when it comes to the spicy element...

We finely chop heaps of scotch bonnets and leave them to steep in 90% alcohol, after about a week of infusing the alcohol we remove the sediment through a coffee filter, reduce the alcohol to about 70%. We use about 5mL of this in each cocktail which provides a clean and fruity spice to our margs while keeping the heat consistent and balanced.

Just £9 and if you like a spicy marg you'll love this one!

IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE YOU'VE SEEN BECK!

18 months ago Beck had her last day behind the bar before going off on maternity leave to give birth to our now not so little toddler! On Sunday we had our first night out in a year and a half to celebrate our 3 year anniversary, and had an amazing meal at Chin-Zano.

Beck won't be back behind the bar anytime soon, but I always get asked how she's doing. Both Beck and baba are doing great, but it's the working from home life for Beck now...less paperwork for me 😅

Balancing a baby and a business has been a challenge 😅 both very tired, but onwards and upwards!

JAPANESE WH**KY

We always get asked about what Japanese wh**ky we've got, and the answer is usually not much. The reason for this is that we think it's not the best time to buy Japanese wh**ky despite the fact that we love it. Most of what we see is young and expensive, or just NAS core releases that aren't particularly interesting.

That being said, I have picked out a few that are interesting that people may not have tried before, and we'll continue to build on this. With more Japanese distilleries arising, hopefully we'll have a more extensive range in the future!

WH**KY TASTING WITH BILLY ABBOTT!

We've only got Billy Abbott coming down for a wh**ky tasting in HopScotch...and it's on a Saturday! (SATURDAY 5th SEPTEMBER)

For those who don't know already, Billy is a bit of a legend in the wh**ky world. He's judged umpteen competitions, written countless articles about spirits, been behind the table at heaps of festivals including The Wh**ky Show, and has published his own book called "The Philosophy of Wh**ky" which is currently sat on my bookshelf!

Billy will be coming up from London on Saturday 5th September to host a tasting of 5 excellent whiskies, some of which are Wh**ky Exchange Exclusives.
