Wow what a weekend of halloween fun! a massive thank you to Kit Bradshaw Event Music and Aurora Colson for a brilliant Halloween special on Friday Night and for everyone who dressed up. Well done to Craig and Nicky for the best costume.

Congratulations to Sally who we have picked as our Pumpkin Carving Queen of 2026 she spent ages intricately carving out Happy Halloween. A big shout out to our sponsor Paul Wicks Garden Services for providing the sweets to keep all of the kids fuelled.

and of course Dobby and The Marshmallow Mammas who provided the candy floss on Saturday night.

This Friday Kit & Aurora are back ( from the dead! ) for their annual halloween special. Dressing up is strongly advised as there will be a prize for the best costume! This event is not for the faint hearted. be warned.

From tomorrow, We are looking for help over the Half term, we need to get these pumpkins ready for halloween. If you are small and like sweets & Babycchinos this maybe the job for you. The pay is terrible and the environment is spooky.

As we are refreshing all of the glassware in the bar we have lots of glasses available if anyone wants some, please pop by they are out the front. Some have never been used but sent from various breweries. If anyone wants to donate anything there is a pot for dizzy : Support for Diabetes (East Preston) behind the bar. x

After a year of people bravely standing up to share their poetry. "Get The Word Out" has published a collection of poems from the first year. Proceeds will go towards a local mental health charity and copies are available at the bar. Poetry & spoken word takes place every second Monday of the month and is open to anyone who wants to just sit and listen, or anyone with something to say. It's on this evening from 7pm

Lots have people have worked very hard to put this together: Sean who hosts, Jo who paints and Katie who designs. Thank you all x

A little update to keep the village in the loop today. The cafè will close at 1pm to allow us time to set up for the wake of Harvey Forsythe. The Service is at 2pm at The Catholic Church, We will then open at 3pm after the service for the wake, open to all who knew him.

A procession will take place at 3:45pm and we hope this doesn’t cause too much disruption. The route will be from the Catholic Church, up Sea road to the fish & chip shop and then down the parade stopping at The Great Dane.

From 5pm we will be open to everyone.

For those hoping to see see Edd Clear perform im afraid he has had to postpone his performance for another time. However we have Ian”Diggers” Digweed kindly step in at last minute who will be excellent.

This Friday at 8pm The legends that are “Elder & Caws” are playing at the GD. They don’t play often but bring the house down when they do and we can’t wait, it’s classic rock, with amazing melodie’s. They bring such a buzz to the venue with their energy.

Last night one of our regular customers told me "I didn't know you have free roast potatoes on a Sunday" I said "I thought everyone knew that" She said "you should put a post up, just in case". I said "I hate putting up posts that try to sell things" she said "They are Free you are not selling anything" So here we are! If you like free roast potatoes on a Sunday, we have them but if you are busy that's ok too.
