π PYTCHLEY STORE IS OPEN π
Today marks the official opening of Pytchley Store at The Overstone Arms.
This is something I've been thinking about, planning and dreaming about for a very long time.
Many of our regulars will smile when they hear that I've been calling this room "the shop" for years, long before it actually became one! My dad always insisted it was a store, so somewhere along the way the name stuck.
What started as an idea has now become a reality.
For the first time in around 30 years, Pytchley has a village shop connected to the pub, offering local produce, everyday essentials, gifts and treats, alongside many of the products we proudly use in our restaurant.
We're proud to be working with some fantastic local suppliers including:
π₯ Station Farm, Burton Latimer
π« Brambles Food
π» Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oil
π The Corby Bakery, creators of the famous Corby Roll
π₯ Wild Grain & Co Bakery, suppliers of our artisan sourdough breads
π° The Corby Cake Company
π₯ Fresh Ideas Produce
π Friars Farm
β Well Roasted Coffee (coming soon to the shop)
π₯« Jay's Northamptonshire Sauce
We're especially proud to be working with several fantastic businesses from Corby, including The Corby Bakery, creators of the famous Corby Roll, Wild Grain & Co Bakery, whose artisan sourdough breads feature both in the shop and on our menu, and The Corby Cake Company, whose delicious cakes and sweet treats are already proving popular with our customers.
Many of the products you see on the shelves aren't just for sale in the shop. They're the same ingredients we use every day in our kitchen, helping us create the dishes served in our restaurant.
The new Winter Menu launches today, and some of the products from the shop are already finding their way onto the menu, including our new Cheese Sourdough, made using artisan sourdough bread from Wild Grain & Co Bakery, which I'm very excited about.
A special mention must go to Fresh Ideas, who have supported me since 2015. What started as a small weekly order has grown into an incredible partnership that has helped both the restaurant and now the shop continue to develop and grow.
In 2019, while running Bell's Kitchen at The Bell Inn, Finedon, we achieved something I'll always be proud of, becoming the No.1 Restaurant in Northamptonshire on TripAdvisor.
Bell's Kitchen had its own identity and its own TripAdvisor page, and reaching the top spot proved that hard work, consistency and looking after people really does matter.
The truth is, at the time we weren't making a penny. There were moments when it might have made more sense to give up and go back to driving.
But when you achieve something like that, you have to believe you're doing something right.
So we kept going.
My dad kept helping. My sister kept helping. Our staff kept helping. Together, we believed we were building something worth fighting for.
Today, Pytchley Store is another step on that journey.
We're aiming for around 80% local produce, supporting local businesses, reducing food miles and celebrating the fantastic products made right here in Northamptonshire.
π₯ TAKE A LOOK AROUND
I've just done a Facebook Live tour of the new shop.
If you'd like a look around before visiting, head over and watch the video. You'll see some of the fantastic local products we're stocking, hear about our suppliers, learn how many of those products are used throughout our restaurant, and get a feel for what we're building here at The Overstone Arms.
