🍻 Almost the Weekend... and the pub is ready! 🍻

It's been a busy week, but the cellar's stocked, the pumps are polished, and we're ready to throw the doors open for another weekend at Tailor's.

Last weekend's Beer-Off was a close-run thing, with Team Real Ale scraping victory by a mighty 2½ pints. Not exactly a landslide, but a win's a win...

This weekend's ale line-up starts with:
🍺 Old Mill Blonde – 4.0%
🍺 Great Newsome Frothingham Best Bitter – 4.3%
🍺 Yorkshire Heart Blackheart Stout – 4.8%

And, as always, there's a great selection waiting in the wings.

Meanwhile, the usual suspects continue to occupy the T-bar:
🍏 Aspall Cyder – 4.5%
🍺 Jaipur IPA – 5.9%
🍺 Pravha Pilsner – 4.0%
🍺 Veltins Pilsner – 4.8%

So, the question is...
Will Team Real Ale build on last week's slender victory, or will Team T-Bar mount a serious challenge?

The only way to settle it is the traditional way: one pint at a time. So pop in, cast your vote and remember to drink responsibly 😉🍻

Firstly, apologies again for having to close unexpectedly last night.

The good news is we're open as usual this evening, the air-con is behaving itself, the drinks are cold, and normal service has resumed...although "normal" is perhaps open to interpretation 🤔🤣

Thank you all for your patience, understanding and for helping spread the word. If you know anyone who isn't on Facebook, we'd really appreciate you letting them know we're back open tonight.

Well what a gloriously sunny week it's been! ☀️
And it looks like the sunshine is sticking around for the weekend too... just at slightly more survivable temperatures... so very thankful for the aircon unit 😅

So, kicking off the Beer-off this weekend we’ve got:
🍺 Jorvik Blonde from Rudgate
🍺 Traditional Bitter from Old Mill
🍺 Black Heart Stout from Yorkshire Heart

The t-bar is fully loaded with the usual suspects, the fridges are stocked, and the bottles are replenished ready for the weekend ahead 🍻

I should hopefully be ready to open at 5pm as usual, although Jen has a late afternoon appointment, so please bear with me if I’m a few minutes behind today 🙂

Well it’s been an absolute scorcher today... far too hot for the Bogdog and the Sproglet 🥵😎
Both have needed a little assistance in keeping cool today 💦🐶🤣

With the glorious weather we’ve had over the bank holiday weekend, I suppose it’s no real surprise that Team T-Bar have taken the win this time 🍻

That said, Team Real Ale only missed out by 5 pints at close of play... a surprisingly close battle in the end 👀🍺

Big black Mudhog Bogdog has spoken....
And apparently the only thing better than a paddling pool in this weather is TWO paddling pools 🐶💦🤣

So! While everyone else is fighting for a square foot of beer garden, Tailor’s should be nicely air-conditioned tonight… assuming everything behaves itself for once 🤞❄️

Meanwhile Jett will be at home living her best soggy dog life, making sure absolutely nothing stays dry after an afternoon in the paddling pools 🙄🤣🤣

At close of business on Saturday night, Team T-Bar were holding a very slender 2-pint lead 😮

Which means, with one night left to go, it really could still be anybody’s game…
Will Team T-Bar hang on to victory?
Or will Team Real Ale pip them at the post? 🍻

Well it’s set to be another glorious day ☀️ and there’s loads going on in Howden today…

🍺 Today is Howden’s very first beer festival at the Shire Hall (might see you there later 🙂)

🔥 Both the Welly and the Wheatsheaf have BBQs going on this afternoon

⚽️ The Bowman's is showing the Championship Final match (Hull v Middlesborough)

🎱 Bingo is back at Howden Social Club tonight

Meanwhile, Cath is holding the fort at Tailor’s this evening while I do a short shift at the Social Club, investigate the beer festival afterwards, and then head home for an evening walk with Jettski 🐾

Busy little Saturday for the town 😊
