WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Calling all industry workers, customers and well…. everyone!

VAT is a killer for us at 20% 😫
Spain, Italy & France all stand at 10% vat. Germany at 7% on food, Ireland at 9% from July.

A fairer VAT would massively push us to invest, create more jobs for our young people in the community. For context under the last government with the business rate’s relief we were able to give 5 young people their first jobs, this year with the rising costs of business rates, gas & electric, supplier rises, council tax, and just about everything else our hiring budget stands at 1 additional person - it’s literally 1 in 1 out. It’s awful! The amount of cv’s we receive or young people having the courage to walk in and ask for a job and not to be able to offer anything is heartbreaking.

This building has stood proudly on Wooburn Green for around 200 years and has been part of village life since 1800’s.

Think about that for a moment…

This old pub has seen Victorian times, two world wars, countless village celebrations, generations of locals and more pints you could possibly count!

We’re incredibly privileged to be the custodians of such an historic building and proudly independent, free from ties & chains.

We will always keep homage to its roots - The Step’s as its famously known. With memorabilia still displayed on the grounds.
