Supercar Sunday Secret Meet - A huge thank you to Brockbushes Farm Shop for hosting us this morning, not only did we fill the courtyard, we also had a great display in the car park as well. Great to see so many people making the effort. More photos to follow

During Lockdowns we found a number of car themed painted stones in and around the Crown, other than the name Gman on the bottom we still don’t know who left them. Following the toughest imaginable week I’ve just found this stone on the front step tonight 😢

From welcoming World Champions and Celebrities to our everyday Local Hero’s The Crown has been a special place for everyone involved, Closing has been very difficult to take, People who have found them selves out of work after putting in so much time, effort and passion just feels so cruel and emotions are running very high.

As a family business over the last 15 years we have all been so proud to be part of something special.

The response that I have received over the last couple of days has been amazing, while people are understandably upset I am incredibly grateful for such understanding and support.

I have had messages from various forms of Press including The Courant, Chronicle, The Sun and ITV amongst others, including reporters actually visiting the homes of staff (unsure how addresses have been found). Having had such a reaction from the press has to be taken as a compliment but please understand I have been inundated with over 2000 texts, emails and direct messages not to mention comments left so simply haven’t been able to respond.

Over the coming days I will try to respond to those requiring a response but please bear with me.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closure of The Crown Inn with immediate effect. 15 years ago we came into a pub full of strangers and we now find ourselves closing a pub who’s regulars we all call friends.

There have been many contributing factors which have brought us to this sad decision. The ever increasing costs throughout the business have reached the stage that the business has become unsustainable, from energy bills to the cost of a piece of fish, nothing has managed to escape the increases.

On a personal level, I love this industry, being the fourth generation in my family in hospitality it’s in my blood, I hope that my parents would be proud of the things which we have achieved here. I think being Judged to be the “Best Pub In Northumberland” two years running shows the level that we as a team managed to take the business to. There simply aren’t words to describe the appreciation that I have for our small team of staff, we have been through a lot together and I wish nothing but the very best for everyone
