We’ve got a great weekend ahead - brilliant live music, and award-winning b**rs…

** Friday evening, from 7pm **

The brilliant Charlie Russell music (many of you will have seen him at Heckington show) is performing from 7pm and is then followed by Temple Bay, who are putting on their debut gig here in Heckington.

The lads are so excited, as are we - so please come down and give them a warm reception; not just because they’re local lads but because they’re absolutely brilliant!

Charlie will warm us down after with an acoustic set, and it all promises to be a lovely evening.

Up the Bay!

For something a bit different but very in keeping with the occasion, we have the very talented Jessica violet violin performing a haunting, eerie Halloween set of music that will give us all the shivers, in the nieces possible way.

We thought it’d be perfect for parents to come down with the kids, before or after some trick-or-treating, and enjoy some ghoulish live music.

Our taproom will be serving our award-winning b**rs and the weather promises to be kind to us - but bring layers in case you’re cold (or jump around to the live music).

It promises to be a memorable weekend - we hope you can spend some of it with us!

We have a GREAT weekend of live music coming up, with Charlie Russel Music and Temple Bay on Friday evening, and then a haunting evening of Halloween-inspired music courtesy of solo violinist Jessica violet violin on Saturday - neither are to be missed, and they’re both completely free to attend.

We’ll share more about the weekend tomorrow, but this post is to look back at Sunday and a really special trad Irish session that brought our little taproom to life.

We’ve had Micky, Cathy and many lovely musicians attending each month since March, and each sessions seems to improve on the last - somehow. Last Sunday was no different, and we are already looking forward to next month.

But there’s lots to enjoy before then - so join us, Charlie, Temple Bay and Jessica this weekend. Award-winning b**rs taste even better with live music…

Last week we welcomed two new members of staff to the 8SB team.

Pictured above are our new sales staff Graham (left) and Dave (right), with our Head Brewer, Paddy.

Graham and Dave bring many years’ experience in the b**r/brewing sector to 8SB, and have already made an impact with visits to Lincs pubs about us and our b**r.

It’s great to have them on the team.

TADPALE - Extra Session Pale - 2.7%

Please welcome our latest addition to our bar…

Tadpale is a golden pale, with plenty of citrus and floral flavours. It may be lower on the ABV scale, but it certainly doesn’t lack character. Designed to be extremely easy drinking, you can have all the fun of a session without the headache its bigger brother may have given you in the past.

Available in the taproom TODAY from 1600h.

Ready for the weekend?

Here’s our line up on the bar, and don’t forget that on Sunday (3-6pm), our traditional Irish session will be playing in the taproom - a nicer way to spend a Sunday than supping some award-winning b**rs with friends and live music in the background, we defy you to find.

If you can’t be with us in Heckington and find yourself in or near Lincoln, the iconic Cardinals Hat will have two of our popular b**rs on tap from this weekend; our harvest-time b**r - Greenman (3.8%), and John Barleycorn (5.5% - a pale, golden English IPA) will be on the bar from Friday onwards.

It’s great to have The Cardinal’s Hat as part of the 8SB family.

Oh and for those still reading… it’s Windmill Wednesday and that means £0.50 off all pints at the taproom.

We are very proud to be listed in the UKs best selling b**r and pub guide, compiled by CAMRA

It’s not our first rodeo - this is our sixth consecutive year listed in the **rguide, and every year we strive to do our best to keep that run going.

The book is, obviously, choc full of excellent pubs and taprooms, although we think we’re in our own category of having a wonderful windmill right next to us!

This years foreword is written by and we love this quote from Ian during an interview with Meet and Drink, back in 2019:

“You have to have good pubs to drink good b**r in. I’m very particular about the kind of pubs I go into – I never go into pubs that have doormen, for example, that’s a rule of thumb. There’s a reason why they’ve got doormen; they’re expecting trouble.

And I’m not keen on pubs that have juke boxes and pool tables. When I come into a pub I come for the conversation, for the company, or to listen into other people’s conversations – I use them all the time for realism, it’s what people say, so it makes the dialogue realistic.“

We couldn’t agree more, Ian!
