Heckington welcomed Sleaford to the village on Sunday and, after a disciplined bowling display, secured a tense four-wicket victory in a game where every run felt priceless.

The visitors were asked to bat first and never really got going against some miserly Hawks bowling.
Sleaford were 45-0 until some sharp fielding from Robbie Townsend (R & J Spencer Plasterers) ran out one of the openers and then the wickets were regular. Chris Morley (MKM) rolled back the years with a superb spell of 2-15 from his 8 overs, while Samuel Elliott (available for sponsorship) was the chief destroyer, finishing with outstanding figures of 5-23 from his full allocation. Henry Read (available for sponsorship) chipped in with two wickets of his own, ensuring Sleaford were bundled out for just 103 in 31 overs.

With only 104 needed, the chase looked straightforward on paper. Cricket, however, had other ideas.

The Hawks lost wickets at regular intervals as Sleaford’s bowlers fought hard to keep the game alive. Samuel Elliott followed up his five-for with a valuable 26, while Silindile Tuntulwana (HC BUILDING BRICKWORK CONTRACTORS LTD) added 25 to keep the scoreboard moving. Connor Jenkinson (L.Stanton Spraying and Decorating) then played what proved to be the innings of the match, top-scoring with 31 and showing plenty of composure.

Just when the nerves were starting to kick in around the boundary, Liam Henry calmly saw the Hawks home with an unbeaten 6, alongside Robbie Townsend, as Heckington reached 104-6 in the 24th over.

A match that showcased disciplined bowling, stubborn batting, and plenty of character. Special mentions go to Samuel Elliott for his five-wicket haul and Connor Jenkinson for top-scoring in a chase where every run carried extra weight.

The victory means even more than just another tick in the win column, as it books Heckington’s place in the MS Trophy Final. Having battled through a series of tough fixtures to reach this stage, the Hawks are now just one win away from silverware.

It was perhaps fitting that a side built on teamwork rather than individual heroics got over the line in such a hard-fought contest. With Elliott starring with the ball, Morley turning back the clock, and Connor Jenkinson top-scoring in a nervy chase, Heckington showed exactly the resilience needed to win knockout cricket.

It wasn’t just about the players that played today, it was about everyone who contributed in previous games to get us to this stage too.

The final awaits, and if the Hawks can bring the same fighting spirit they showed against Sleaford, they’ll head into it believing they can bring the trophy back to Heckington. 🏆🦅

Hawks Cruise to Comfortable Victory at Owmby

Heckington travelled to Owmby on Sunday looking to continue their strong run of form and did exactly that, securing a convincing 97-run victory.

Losing the toss and being put into bat first, the Hawks got themselves into a solid position despite a couple of early setbacks. Robert Nunn (The Brass Windmill) anchored the innings with 25, while Mike Priestley stuck with Sisa and added 18 and Connor Jenkinson (L.Stanton Spraying and Decorating) chipped in with a useful 20. Chris Morley (MKM (12*) and Luke Townsend (3*) ( available for sponsorship) remained unbeaten at the close.

The star of the innings, however, was Sisa Tuntulwana (HC BUILDING BRICKWORK CONTRACTORS LTD). Producing a classy knock, Sisa compiled a superb 88, carrying the Heckington innings and ensuring the visitors posted a very competitive 196-6 from their 40 overs.

With nearly 200 on the board, Heckington’s bowlers were ruthless from the outset. Samuel Elliott (available for sponsorship) struck first, trapping Henry Buckley lbw for a duck, before Chris Morley produced one of the spells of the day. Morley’s figures of 2-6 from 4 overs completely strangled the Owmby middle order and left the hosts with a mountain to climb.

Henry Read (available for sponsorship) then took centre stage with a devastating spell of 4-11 from just 4 overs, ripping through the lower order and putting the game beyond doubt. Mark Simpson (Smith Construction Heckington Ltd) chipped in with 2-9, while Luke Frith (available for sponsorship) claimed the final wicket to wrap things up.

Behind the stumps, Connor Jenkinson barely put a foot wrong all afternoon, but his highlight came in the field when Henry Read was hunting his fourth wicket. Connor produced an absolute worldie, diving full stretch to his right and somehow plucking a one-handed catch out of the air. Even the Owmby batters had to admire it. It was the sort of catch that would have looked impressive on a highlights reel, never mind on a Sunday afternoon.

Robbie Townsend (R & J Spencer Plasterers) also kept things tight with an economical eight-over spell going at under 5 an over, helping maintain the pressure throughout the innings.

Owmby’s only real resistance came from Hayden Rogers (35) and Harry Brindle (30), but once they departed the innings quickly unravelled. The hosts were eventually dismissed for 99 in 24.3 overs, handing Heckington a dominant 97-run victory.

A brilliant all-round performance from the Hawks. Sisa’s 88 laid the platform, the bowlers shared all ten wickets. 🏏🦅

Next week we are at home to Sleaford 2nds, a massive game that will put one of the two sides through to the final of the cup so please come down and show your support as the Hawks look to continue there unbeaten streak.

Heckington 1st XI welcomed Woodhall Spa 2s to the hallowed turf of Howell Road on Saturday. Under sunny skies, skipper Simpson (Smith Construction Heckington Ltd) decided to bowl first, hoping his depth of attack would serve him well.
He seemed to be vindicated when Xipu (The Mews Clinic) took a stunner at slip off Robbie Townsend (R & J Spencer Plasterers) to remove Seargeant. Woodhall slipped to 24-3 with all wickets falling to Townsend before Caswell and Hughes rebuilt in the middle overs. More wickets tumbled with Roy Tilley and Chris Morely (MKM) in the thick of it with three wickets apiece. But a last wicket partnership of 36 from youngsters Steadman and Bourke saw Woodhall reach a competitive 133 all out.
In reply Holtam (Field & Coast) and Xipu started well, mixing solid defence with controlled attack and seeing Hecko to 40 without loss. However, once Woodhall got into the middle order, Heckington's recent batting woes continued. On an increasingly tricky deck, Steadman and Bailey both impressed and only Gibson and Townsend passed double figures besides the opening pair. All out 88 and another tough examination to come next Saturday against Freiston!
Thanks as always to MKM, Smith Construction Heckington Ltd and South Lincs Total Recovery Ltd as well as our home ground hosts, Heckington Pavilion and Playing Fields.
