It’s Official we have now handed over the guardianship for Village Evolution 💖💖💖

Next week marks the One year anniversary of Village Evolution 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ which I feel is the perfect time to hand it over! 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽
We wanted to leave quietly this time around, without any fuss, 🙈 therefore last week was our actual last weekend & we now leave you in very capable hands! 🤗🤗

When asked to come back to try & work my magic by getting The Village sorted out & its doors open again, for the sake of the community I did. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
But I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help, encouragement & support from all the Village Angels that came back to add their sparkle.✨✨✨✨ I will be forever grateful to them & to all of you that have joined us over the course of this last year. 🙏🏽

But just like Mary Poppins 🌂 My work is now complete & it’s time for me to move on “again”🕊️🤍

I am so happy to be handing over the guardianship to the wonderful Carter & Dan, I know they have so many new & exiting things planned for you all 🤩🤩🤩 So come say hi 👋🏽 & please share the love by carrying on to support them & Village Evolution, so together united the flag will carry on flying high over Halifax for the LGBTQ+ community & it’s friends! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Happy Birthday to the Pride flag! 🌈🎂🏳️‍🌈

Forty-eight years ago today, on June 25, 1978, the rainbow flag flew for the very first time, over a plaza in San Francisco. It was hand dyed by a whole community, and its makers gave every stripe a meaning: pink for s*x, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, turquoise for magic and art, indigo for serenity, and violet for spirit.

To celebrate, we just opened a brand new exhibit at the South Coast LGBTQ+ Museum: "Eight Stripes." It tells the full story of how the flag was made, who really made it, how it lost two of its stripes, and the whole family of flags it grew into.

And one thing we will always say on a day like this: for us, Pride is not just a month, it is year-round. When we tell our own history, we bring to light knowledge that has gone little covered, and we record ourselves in history the way we deserve to be remembered.
