🍻 Exciting things are happening at The Shieling Community Pub!
We've got a few changes coming over the next few weeks, including a new selection of beers, fresh signage and, most importantly, more regular opening hours!
Following some staffing changes, we're just waiting for our personal licence to come through so we can get the bar up and running again. Hopefully not too much longer! If you haven't been in for a while, the place looks quite different these days. The floors have been sanded, the interior brightened up, and the heating is finally fixed! We've got a big selection of board games and some new shelving on the way too. We're keen to get The Shieling open more regularly over the winter, offering a warm, cosy space for locals and visitors to meet up, enjoy a drink, play some games and catch up.
🎄 A wee heads-up for 1st & 2nd November!
The GALE Centre will be closed while the team rearranges the retail shop, does stocktake and gets some Christmas goodies out (eek!). Meanwhile, we'll be trialling lunches at The Shieling on both days, so do pop along!
Why community ownership matters:
Both buildings are owned by the community, for the community. That means keeping local spaces in local hands, creating jobs and opportunities, and reinvesting income back into local services, projects and the buildings themselves.
Shieling Report available to read now:
We've put together a Shieling Project Update covering everything that's happened since the building came into community ownership. You can read it on the GALE website or pick up a copy at either building.
