🎉 A MASSIVE THANK YOU FROM DEMBA & THE TEAM! 🎉

We are completely blown away by the incredible support our Dimanche Dish events have received over the last few months. Because of your generosity and love for Demba’s cooking, here is where our total stands so far:

• £712.80 raised directly from the 4 x Dimanche Dish meals at The Old Inn 🍽️
• £85.00 given in cash donations 🪙
• £143.00 raised online via our GoFundMe page 💻

✨ GRAND TOTAL SO FAR: £940.80! ✨

That is nearly a third of the way to our £3,000 target for the school in Thiaroye-sur-Mer—a truly amazing milestone!

The Countdown is On... ⏳
Demba is scheduled to travel back home to Senegal this November to start making real, tangible improvements for the school children.

With just two months left before he flies out, we are making a big push to get as close to our £3,000 target as possible. Every single pound raised goes straight into buying vital educational materials, fixing up classroom facilities, and supporting the village's vulnerable youth.

"A taste of home, shared right here in Gairloch." 🌍❤️

Tomorrow marks the return of Demba’s Dimanche Dish—our monthly tradition celebrating the authentic recipes, culture, and story of our chef, Demba.

This month, Demba is cooking up a vibrant West African classic: Chicken Yassa. Tender chicken is marinated in a tangy citrus-mustard blend and slowly braised with caramelised onions, garlic, green olives, cornichons, and sweet peppers naturally reflecting the colours of the Senegalese flag. It’s a sweet, sour, and savoury dish straight from his home village of Thiaroye-sur-Mer.

In Senegal, Sunday ("Dimanche") is a time to slow down, share a meal, and embrace the spirit of "Nio Far"—the idea that "We Are One". Best of all, enjoying a plate tomorrow night directly supports the Nio Far project. A portion of every dish sold goes toward supporting the local school in Thiaroye-sur-Mer and helping Demba build a Sanctuary for the Talibé children.

Enjoy a truly special dish, and help us build a meaningful bridge between two coastal communities.

A massive thank you to the talented young musicians from the Fèis Rois Ceilidh Trail for a brilliant performance.

We are absolute believers that there is nothing quite like live Highland music—and tonight, we are hosting some of the absolute best young talent in the country!

The Fèis Rois Ceilidh Trail brings together some of Scotland’s most outstanding young traditional musicians (aged 16–25) for a whirlwind summer tour across the nation. Over the years, this incredible project has launched the careers of artists like Rachel Newton, Ali Levack, and Brìghde Chaimbeul. Tonight, you have the rare chance to hear the next generation of folk icons up close in our intimate, historic pub setting.

Expect brilliant musicianship, soaring fiddle tunes, accordion jigs, and beautiful Gaelic songs echoing through the Inn.

In Senegal, Dimanche (Sunday) is a very special day—a time for the community to slow down, gather together, and share food and stories. This July, our wonderful Chef de Partie, Demba, is bringing this beautiful tradition to Gairloch once again!

We invite you to experience the true spirit of “Nio Far”—the Senegalese phrase meaning "We Are One"—and enjoy a spectacular taste of West African hospitality.

🍽️ The Featured Dish: Chicken Yassa (Poulet Yassa)

This month’s dish is an absolute West African classic. Demba has prepared tender, bone-in chicken marinated in a tangy citrus-mustard blend, slowly braised with sweet caramelised onions, garlic, green olives, and cornichons. It’s vibrant, comforting, and beautifully finished with green, yellow, and red peppers to honour the colours of the Senegalese flag—creating the ultimate balance of sweet, sour, and savoury flavours.

The Ceilidh Trail is an incredible summer tour featuring some of the most talented young traditional musicians in Scotland. You can expect a fantastic, high-energy atmosphere filled with foot-tapping jigs, reels, and stunning traditional songs. It’s a wonderful opportunity to hear the rising stars of the Scottish folk scene in a proper, historic Highland pub setting.

Make a night of it! Why not head over early and join us for dinner before the music starts? Our kitchen team will be serving up our brand-new summer evening menu.

Evening meals are served from 5:00pm – 8:30pm.
