🍂 A taste of the season.

Our new seasonal menu celebrates the best of autumn, bringing together exceptional ingredients, local suppliers and thoughtful cooking.

At the heart of this dish is a beautiful loin of venison, supplied by Turners Game, paired with a potato pavé enriched with award-winning cheese from the Cheese Makers of Canterbury.

Accompanied by Cavolo Nero, Smoked Carrot & Blackberry Jus, this dish brings together rich, earthy flavours and a touch of seasonal sweetness.

We're proud to work with outstanding suppliers who share our passion for quality produce, allowing us to showcase the very best of the season on every plate.

A little note about Sunday bookings 👀

Sunday is our busiest day. When you book a table and then cancel at the last minute—or simply don’t turn up—we’re left with food prepared, staff ready and a table that could have gone to someone else. Especially when we’ve turned so many people away because we’re fully booked.

We’re good at serving great food and looking after our guests, but sadly we haven’t mastered feeding imaginary ones.

So from now on, we’ll be taking a deposit for every Sunday booking. We’ll confirm the amount and payment details when you book.

If your plans change, please give us a heads-up. It’s the decent thing to do—and it saves us setting a place for your ghost. 👻🤪

Thanks to everyone who books, turns up and supports us. We really do appreciate you.

Our new menu seems to be going down a treat this week! 😍

One of the dishes getting everyone talking is our Sea Bass & King Prawn Indonesian Fish Curry, served with pak choi and fragrant pilaf rice. 🍤🐟

🍂 AUTUMN AT THE DOVE 🍂

Our October & November menu celebrates the best of the season, bringing together beautiful ingredients, comforting autumn flavours and a little creativity from our kitchen.

One of our new starters is our Goat Kofta, served with harissa yoghurt, pickled shallot, cucumber, and a fresh mint & coriander dressing.

Richly spiced, beautifully tender and balanced with fresh, vibrant flavours — a lovely way to begin your meal.

Elsewhere on the menu, you'll find seasonal favourites including Loin of Venison, Pan-Fried Hake with Chorizo & Butter Bean Cassoulet, and our indulgent Baileys Creme Brulee

🏆🥈 WE'RE SILVER AWARD WINNERS! 🥈🏆

Kent Dining Experience of the Year 2026 – Taste of Kent Awards

Well, what an evening! ❤️

We are absolutely delighted to announce that The Dove at Dargate has been awarded SILVER for Kent Dining Experience of the Year 2026 at the Taste of Kent Awards!

After making the Top 10 through the public vote, progressing through the judging stages and reaching the final three alongside Drift. in Whitstable and The Pig at Bridge Place, we headed into tonight's awards ceremony with everything crossed!

And what a close result it was… just ONE point separated us from Gold! 🥇🥈

Of course, coming that close makes you wonder what could have been, but we're incredibly proud of what we've achieved.

Eight years ago, we took on The Dove with a vision of creating a welcoming village pub serving great food, using quality ingredients and showcasing the fantastic produce Kent has to offer.

There have been countless early mornings, late nights, challenges and sacrifices along the way, but moments like this remind us just how far we've come.

To be recognised as one of the very best dining experiences in Kent, alongside some truly outstanding establishments, means an incredible amount to us.

A huge congratulations to Drift in Whitstable on taking Gold, and to The Pig at Bridge Place on receiving Bronze. 👏

Most importantly, a massive thank you to our wonderful team, our fantastic suppliers and every single customer who has supported us over the years. Whether you've visited once or have been coming since the beginning, you've all played a part in getting us here.

We're a small independent village pub, and to receive this recognition is something we'll never take for granted.

We may have missed Gold by just one point, but we're coming home with Silver, and that's something we're incredibly proud of! ❤️

🌴 ANNUAL HOLIDAY 🌴

After a very busy summer, The Dove is now closed for our annual holiday.

A huge thank you to our brilliant team, who have worked incredibly hard and thoroughly deserve a well-earned break. We’d also like to thank all our wonderful customers for visiting and supporting us throughout the summer—it really does mean so much to us.

We’re taking a little time to rest and recharge our batteries before the busy winter months ahead.

We’ll reopen on Friday 2nd October, refreshed and ready to welcome you all back!

A big thank you to everyone who came out to see us and try the new menu last week! It went down really well, the restaurant was beautifully busy, and we loved seeing everyone enjoying the new dishes.

A firm favourite so far is definitely the Poached Halibut, Mussels, Potato Croquette, Baby Leeks, and Chive Sauce.

🍻 Felix’s Final Shift! 🍻

After three brilliant years with us at The Dove, today is Felix’s final Sunday shift before he heads off to university!

Felix has been a huge part of The Dove team, and we’re incredibly grateful for all his hard work, the laughs and everything he’s brought to the pub over the years.

If you’re joining us today, make sure you wish him well — and perhaps buy him a farewell drink! 🍺
