🔥 A slightly eventful night at The Half Moon… 🔥

Firstly, a big sorry to our neighbours in the village who may have been woken by our alarm going off at around 4am this morning. Not quite the Sunday morning wake-up call anyone ordered!

Unfortunately, our tumble dryer decided to dramatically end its career by catching fire. Thankfully, it was located in an outer building rather than in the main pub, so the damage to the inside of the building is very limited.

Most importantly, everyone is safe and well. ❤️

We’d also like to say a huge THANK YOU to the kind local residents who heard the alarm and called the emergency services. It’s incredibly reassuring to know that even at 4am, people in our village are looking out for us.

And an absolutely massive thank you to our local Fire & Rescue team. 🚒❤️ Although our team had already made everything safe, they still attended to thoroughly check the temperatures throughout the outbuilding and help clear the small amount of smoke that had found its way inside. We’re enormously grateful for their help, professionalism and reassurance.

We’re now just waiting for our electricians and plumbers to give everything the once-over. At the moment, we don’t anticipate any problems with opening as normal at midday today — albeit with one considerably crispier tumble dryer!

Thank you again to everyone who helped, called, checked in or was rudely awakened by us.

We’re all safe, the pub is OK, and we’ll hopefully see you from midday. 🍻🐸❤️

Freddie’s somehow convinced us that cider + sausages + live music counts as a perfectly sensible Bank Holiday plan. We couldn’t find a good enough argument against it. 😂
