Our Buddy? The Daddy! But not THAT Bud of the USofA..... which is a pale imitation in every respect. And always has been; the founder of Budweiser, Adolphus Busch was visiting the Czech town of Budweis and enjoyed the beer so much he decided to replicate back home (quite when he also decided to add rice to the ingredients and drastically shorten the maturation time is unknown). Legal battles have raged for decades over the name, with fears the Americans would take over the original brewery, but it remains fiercely independent and is now owned by the Czech people.
