We are pleased to announce that building work has now started to transform our beautiful listed farm house in Solihull, known locally as Tidbury Green Farm into a Brunning and Price pub, which will be called the Mallard.

The sun is shining, the extension room is up to 'second floor' (despite Natalie who is not in any way a brick layer 'having a quick go!' - under the watchful 'arm crossed' eye of the professionals before anyone gets worried about health and safety issues) and the barns actually look water tight and wonderful now - so all is good here at the Mallard!

We plan to be open in time to enjoy a nice Spritz on the terrace at the end of the Summer. (At this stage setting a date feels like tempting fate as we never quite know what we are going to encounter until we get going - but we will keep you posted!).

It's always nice to have some 'before photos' to look back on once we've done.

Tidbury Green Farmhouse, is a Grade II listed building dating back to the 17th century with later 18th and 19th-century alterations. It features colour-washed brick, plaster and an old tiled roof and outhouse and has an unusual 'Cheese Room' in the loft (that the Conservation Officer was very excited to see!).

The Mallard will be in good company as Brunning and Price also own the Physician in Edgbaston, Arrow Mill near Alcester and the Roe Deer in Wordsley. You might know them?

Each pub is very much individual, but all hold the same ideals of what makes a ‘proper pub’; beautiful buildings offering a warm welcome, good cask beers, freshly cooked food, delicious and affordable wine and a good shelf of malt whiskies and gins.

Brunning and Price are delighted to be beginning our restoration works on Tidbury Green Farmhouse. We purchased the property many years ago, but with one thing or another (planning permission, surveys, drawing amends, more planning permission, lock down, the price of pub restorations going through the roof!) we haven't been able to start until now. But we are off!

It's quite a long process but we hope to be ready to pull our first pint at the back end of the Summer. You can watch our progress here.
