We know you're not going to believe it but there are NO, and we repeat NO, planned engineering works on the Transpennine route this week for the first time in what seems to have been months. (It has been months).

So you can Ale Trail, get the train to the football or have a day out on an actual train throughout this weekend.

*For one weekend only though as the engineering works at Huddersfield station then return throughout September*

We're helping celebrate 2026 with Historic England Charles Smith who is running a Heritage pub walk & talk across Huddersfield.

We've teamed up with and based on a historical recipe we have brewed a version of Hammonds Prize Winning Pale from the 1950s, as they were the original owners of The Sportsman Beerhouse and the H features in the windows of the pub. Hence the name H of this Historical Huddersfield brewed beer for a Heritage event.

The walk is fully booked but the beer will be on sale whilst stocks last throughout all our pubs in September so check it out whilst you can.

It's great to see some positive things happening in and around Huddersfield & Dewsbury at the moment. Investment in our spaces, shops and infrastructure can only be good in the long-term and we are happy to see some of these ambitious plans coming to fruition and being open very soon.
The Queensgate Square in Huddersfield & The Arcade in Dewsbury are due to open very soon, the Transpennine Upgrade continues apace and events like Huddersfeast put on by are all good for our towns. Investment in these places & events will help the community within to keep our towns alive.

Did you know that we stock a draught alcohol free option now at all the beerhouse pubs. So whether your trying to reduce your alcohol intake, driving or wanting to mix it up then you can still come to the pub and have a great night without the booze.

The definition for ABV level is that beers at 0.5% ABV and below can be advertised as alcohol-free. To put the alcohol free beers alcohol level into perspective - a ripe banana is about 0.4% ABV, soy sauce 1.5% ABV and some loaves of bread can be as high as 1.9% ABV.

Alcohol-free pale ale now pouring! Loris 0.5%

"Loris is an easy-drinking, juicy and hazy low alcohol pale ale. We use El Dorado, Citra and Mosaic hops to create an intense tropical and citrus fruit aroma, which is followed by a crisp, refreshing bitterness which doesn’t linger. It’s a tasty drop at just 0.5%!"

The team at the West Riding Beerhouse excelled themselves when they raised £2500 for The Kirkwood with 'Ley Day', in memory of beloved customer, Ley.

Many of you who follow this page will be regulars of individual pubs, or perhaps several of them, but may not know much about the team behind Beerhouses. We were very proud this week when the Yorkshire Post ran an article about The Terrace Dewsbury but also offered a little 'peak behind the curtain' about the driving force behind the whole Beerhouses group - our MD Sarah Barnes.

It's a great piece that focuses on Sarah's vision for The Terrace and for the group in general, and about what we're trying to do for places like Dewsbury.

We're getting used to seeing massive cranes and building works going on right outside our front doors this last few months.

The Huddersfield Cultural Heart, Transpennine Route Upgrade and Bridge replacements have provided us with some spectacular crane action.
