🥧 Homemade Pies of the Week at The Rose & Crown

Fresh from the oven and wrapped in our famous family recipe pastry, these beauties are ready to make your week a whole lot better!

This week’s line-up:

🥧 Steak, Guinness & Cheese Pie
Tender steak, rich Guinness gravy and mature cheese, all wrapped in our golden family recipe pastry.

🥧 Chicken & Leek Pie
A proper pub favourite packed with succulent chicken, leeks and a creamy sauce.

🥧 Cheesy Creamy Vegetarian Pie
Loaded with cheesy goodness and wholesome vegetables for a meat-free treat that never feels like a compromise.

Our pastry recipe has been handed down through the family for generations and is one of those things that never changes. As kids, me and my siblings used to have the occasional disagreement (and the odd bit of fisticuffs!) over who got the corner pieces straight from the oven. Some things are worth fighting for… and this pastry was definitely one of them.

I taught my son the family pastry recipe years ago and one Sunday he decided to put it to good use by making a Steak, Guinness & Cheese Pie. What should have been a six-hour job somehow turned into a twelve hour marathon because he cooks like a TV chef, every ingredient weighed, measured and lined up in its own little bowl before a single thing hit the pan.

By the end of it, the kitchen was an absolute disaster. Every worktop was covered, every bowl seemed to have been used, and there wasn’t a clean utensil left in sight. The amount of washing up left behind was almost enough to make me regret teaching him!

Almost.

Because when that pie finally came out of the oven, all was forgiven. Rich steak, Guinness, cheese and our family pastry recipe came together to create what was, without doubt, the best pie I’ve ever tasted. Seeing a recipe that’s been passed down through generations being carried on by my son made me incredibly proud, and proved that some family traditions are worth preserving.

What an incredible achievement! ❤️

On behalf of everyone at The Rose & Crown, we would like to say a huge congratulations and thank you to The Wilson family for organising such a fantastic fundraising event for Brain Tumour Research.

To raise an amazing £1,742 is truly remarkable, and we are honoured to have been able to host such a special day. Seeing our community come together to support a cause so close to your hearts was incredibly moving.

A special thank you to everyone who donated, attended, helped behind the scenes, and to Alex Wallhead Music for generously providing such fantastic entertainment.

Most importantly, thank you to The Wilson family for your dedication, courage, and hard work in raising both funds and awareness for this important cause.

We are proud to have played a small part in such a meaningful event. 💙
