From making the headlines to dining by candlelight… although we hadn’t planned on taking it quite that far. 🤦‍♂️

After our lovely feature in Essex Live , we were fully booked and ready for a brilliant Sunday. Then a power cut halfway through service forced us to close, leaving over 100 guests without the roast they’d booked.

For those affected, it meant disrupted plans and finding somewhere else to eat on a busy Sunday. For our independent pub, it meant wasted food, hours of preparation and lost trade—with the running costs still to cover.

It was beyond our control, but a frustrating afternoon for everyone. Thank you to everyone who showed our team patience and kindness. ❤️

We’ve got some unfinished business with Sunday lunch, so if your booking was affected, we’d love to welcome you back with 10% off your food bill. Just mention your original booking when you rebook.

And to anyone who discovered us through Essex Live—we’d still love to show you what a Sunday at The Rayleigh Arms should look like.
