The Horse & Groom is one of the best country pubs in the Chelmsford area. Lying on the eastern outskirts of town in Writtle, our Chef & Brewer pub restaurant's surrounded by picturesque Essex countryside. Take one of our local cask ales or a glass of wine outside to our peaceful beer garden, or stay indoors to enjoy the atmosphere created by our rustic decor and the old oak beams you'll see all around you. We serve pub classics along with a selection of delicious breakfasts, while we also offer seasonal specials and a pub Sunday roast. Our dog- and family-friendly pub has free WiFi and disabled facilities too. As a welcoming countryside pub, we serve delicious lunch and hearty dinner options.

🐝🔍 WE CHALLENGE YOU TO FIND OUR HIDDEN BEE! 🔍🐝

A little secret hiding in plain sight! During our refurbishment last year, our builders left us a little surprise and engraved a bumblebee into our pub flooring. 🐝

Now it's your turn… 👀

Can you spot it on your next visit? Keep your eyes peeled! 😉
