The ADC Theatre is the liveliest theatre in Cambridge, presenting a vibrant programme of drama, music and comedy. We are a department of the University of Cambridge, and are the oldest University playhouse in the country. The ADC is the centre of University drama in Cambridge, run almost entirely by students with no Faculty involvement. We aim to provide opportunities to experience and learn about all aspects of theatre, while presenting professional standard productions. The ADC Theatre has helped to launch the careers of many theatre luminaries, including Sir Ian McKellen, Rachel Weisz and Emma Thompson.

A storm has hit the ADC, and we’re ready to take you to Oz with… The Wiz!

When Dorothy crash lands in the fantastical land of Oz, she uncovers a world unlike her home in Kansas. With no way home, the good witch Addaperle sends her on a journey along the yellow brick road to meet The Wiz, who has powers like no other, and can send her home. Making friends along the way, they fight off mystical tribes, hallucinogenic poppies and the most evil witch in the land… Evillene. But just as all seems lost, Dorothy and her friends learn that they have had all they need inside of them the entire time.

This joyous adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s classic tale is bound to leave your feet tapping, and put a song in your heart.

Opening tonight at the Corpus Playroom, 1984 Revolution of the Soul is an intergenerational, cross-cultural dialogue with Orwell's dystopian novel.

Retelling the famous story, the play calls to mind contemporary politics and technologies we take for granted to enhance - and sometimes challenge - Orwell’s admonitions. Going further, Junayd Islam intersperses the original plot with Shakespearean poetry and Sufi tales, revealing a spiritual dimension to Orwell’s premonitions.

"Chinese people have a saying describing crying woman. Li hua dai yu. Raindrops on a white pear flower. I always wanted to have a girl like that. So soft, so protected. So beautiful."

It is 2005 in London. Things were still going uphill. Lily Wei was still working in a dingy diner in Chinatown. 20 miles from her home, her daughter Evelyn Wei was waking up in a construction site for her yet unbuilt home, waking up from a nap she supposedly took 20 years later.

She didn't know what happened, and frankly, she didn't care. All she knew is she's got to act fast, before her mother did what she was going to do.

Raindrops on a White Pear Blossom follows a mother and a daughter as they untangle their past, present, and future, trying to wrangle free of each other's wraiths while sinking deeper and deeper. As the parent-child dynamic is flipped on its head, Raindrops asks the question every parent is afraid to hear: When is it time to let go?

When Footlight Tom Sweeney enters a room, all he wants to do is make everyone in it happy, and not hate him. As the room gets bigger, this gets more difficult.
