Hi, Ben here (Owner)…

Turns out it’s my burfday on Wednesday, unfortunately for me, so decided why not use it as an excuse to treat some of you lovely people

Anyone who dines with us at Queens on Wednesday will get a Crumbs FREE COOKIE card - no catch, just take it to the shop at some point and grab a FREE cookie when you fancy it (1 per person)

It’s burger night as well, two for £28

Also cocktails are two for £15 before 7pm

So for £43 you can get yourself 2 burgers with fries, 2 cocktails, and 2 FREE cookies 🍪

I won’t be there physically, after all these years I get an opportunity to take my birthday off, what a treat. But I’ll be with you in spirit 😅

Thing about owning a hospitality business, or any consumer based business really

It’s an extension of yourself

If people don’t like it, you take it personally

You essentially put yourself & your creation on display, on sale, to be judged by strangers, and hopefully over time by regulars, but mostly by strangers

You rely on other people (who are not as invested) to get onboard and deliver everything the way you want, because you can’t possibly do it all alone

You rely on customers having a certain level of understanding and patience for human error or unforeseen circumstances

You hope everyone likes it.

You know some people won’t.

But that’s the nature of it, everyone has different taste and different expectations

It never makes it easier though.

Because out of 100 people you serve. 99 could love it. 1 didn’t.

It’s that 1 who’s voice is the loudest

It’s that 1 who keeps you up at night

It’s that 1 who leaves the review

Over time you learn to accept two things:

1. No one will ever meet your standards if you expect everyone to do what you do, the way you do it.
2. You’ll never please everyone no matter how hard you try

So all you can do is your best. And I genuinely believe there’s A LOT of small business owners out there doing their best. Probably over worked and under paid. Probably constantly let down. Probably constantly facing criticism…

But still doing their best.

Running a business is hard. You have a number of other people’s livelihoods on your shoulders, not just your own. You have a level of responsibility that most people won’t understand. Most of what you do will go unseen and unrewarded.

So if you’re a business owner and you’re reading this. Keep going. Keep the passion. You’re doing great.

BURY PRIDE

Proud to be supporting this week

I posted about this last week and it sparked some controversy because clearly some quite narrow minded individuals aren’t too happy with pride

Well, here’s my thoughts…

Maybe if you were more kind, welcoming and not just a massive f*ckwit, then pride wouldn’t even be required - because everyone would just be treated as equals?

BUT

I guess these comments are the reason it’s needed, to raise awareness?

I won’t lie, until I started reading comments on other posts about this event, I didn’t realise how bad it is, how disgusting people can be, and how confidently they can publically embarrass themselves online

I can’t relate with the community under fire, but I can empathise, I have gay friends, family, clients & employees and to be honest, most of the time I forget… BECAUSE ITS NOT F*CKING RELEVANT

Sorry if this is a bit ranty, sorry if it’s not ‘professional’, but I have a platform, an audience, and I’d rather use it to stand up for something when it’s called for, than to hide away in fear of a bit of controversy

Do you need to like pride? No.

Do you need to support it? No.

Do you need to be involved? No.

Do you need to go out of your way to insult and criticise people for how they live their life? Also no.

With everything that’s sh*t in this world, how about we just try and be kind?

Or as a minimum, just don’t be a d*ck
