The Yeomans family celebrate their first anniversary as owners of The Dial Restaurant & Bar in Burton upon Trent today at 4:05pm on 9 September 2026 - and, if you have ever wondered why the clocks inside The Dial are set to 4:05, that is the reason. It marks the exact time the Yeomans family received the call confirming that the purchase of The Dial had completed one year ago.

During their first year, the family has overseen significant refurbishment and improvements both inside and outside the restaurant, while retaining the character and atmosphere for which The Dial is known.

The anniversary comes as The Dial prepares for a busy end to 2026, including The Dial After Dark Halloween party, Christmas celebrations, Christmas Day lunch and its New Year’s Eve Masquerade.

Looking further ahead, 2027 will mark The Dial’s 25th year in Burton upon Trent, with plans already being developed to celebrate this important milestone.

Laren Yeomans said on behalf of the family:

“Taking ownership of The Dial has been a tremendous privilege. We are extremely proud of everything we have achieved during our first 12 months and very grateful for the warmth and support shown to us by our customers.

Our sincere thanks must also go to our exceptional team, led by Jez and James. Their commitment has helped us make real progress while maintaining the quality, atmosphere and personal service for which The Dial is known.

We have an incredibly busy few months ahead, followed by The Dial’s 25th year in 2027. We are excited about the future and look forward to sharing the next chapter with our customers, staff and the wider Burton community.”

The Dial Celebrates 18 Consecutive Years of Five-Star Food Hygiene Ratings

The Dial Bar & Restaurant in Burton upon Trent is proud to announce that it has once again retained its five-star food hygiene rating following its latest inspection by Environmental Health.

When Head Chef James Reeves joined The Dial and took responsibility for the kitchen, the restaurant held a four-star hygiene rating. Under his leadership, The Dial achieved the highest possible rating and has now maintained its five-star status for an impressive 18 consecutive years.

James said:

“Retaining a five-star food hygiene rating for 18 years is something of which I am incredibly proud. When I first joined The Dial, the restaurant held a four-star rating, so achieving five stars and maintaining that standard year after year has always been extremely important to me.

It requires rigorous processes, strong controls and consistent attention to detail across every aspect of the kitchen - from food preparation and storage to cleanliness, training and record-keeping.

This achievement would not be possible without the dedication and teamwork of everyone at The Dial. Our customers trust us to deliver not only excellent food and service, but also the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.

I would like to thank the entire team, past and present, for their hard work and commitment. Eighteen consecutive years at the highest level is a tremendous achievement, and one we are determined to continue.”

The owners of The Dial also praised James and the entire kitchen and front-of-house teams for their professionalism, discipline and continued commitment to maintaining the restaurant’s exceptionally high standards.
