Pannage started today. The time when pigs are turned out. Due to the lack of acorns and the disneyifcation of the New Forest we ask you and all New Forest Social Media sites not to post where the pigs are, They will struggle to find mast, and being plagued by photographers and influencers using livestock for content will make thing worse.

Please let them do their job as they should without interuption.

Quiz night returns this evening. 8pm start. Hope to see you all there!

The 4249 Festival, Wathen Bartlett at Burley

On the 25th March 1945, Mrs Wathen-Bartlett very kindly signed the lease of the building, on Pound Lane, near to The Cross in the centre of the village, to the working men of Burley for 999 years.

Not able to celebrate the 75th anniversary in 2020 (COVID), Bank Holiday Sunday, the 30th August 2026, marks exactly 4,249 weeks since this lovely gesture and The Wathen-Bartlett invite you to join the celebrations when it plays host to The 4,249 Festival.

Thanks to the extreme generosity of our headline sponsor:

Fiona and Kev The Sorcerer's Apprentice Burley

and our gold sponsors:

Bransgore Vets

Forest Link Electrical

The music line up is as follows:

The One Man Band Collective at 13:00 with Nigel performing songs from the 50's right through to the present day.

Jonny Marsh takes over at 15:15, a high-energy acoustic artist with covers of rock classics, indie anthems and modern favourites.

On at 17:30 is Just-Harvey, a young lad who plays in and around The New Forest and he will be performing hits from the 60's to date with influences from icons like Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Page, Queen, The Beatles and many more.

The festival will be closed with musical mayhem from Captain Crackers and The Curiosities, as they take us on tales of adventure, derring-do and satire!

Entry is free and there will be some food available to purchase, as well as the normal bar service and hopefully, an outside bar too!

Please note that our car park will be closed in order to host the festival, however we will make room for anyone with a blue badge.

We hope you can make it and look forward to having a really great day!

🔥 BURLEY — THIS ONE’S FOR YOU ❤️
There really aren’t enough words to say thank you to everyone who has been working tirelessly to protect our village and our Forest during this awful fire.
To all the crews from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, those who have travelled from across the country to help, and especially our own amazing Burley crews — we see you. The long hours, the exhaustion, the dedication and the determination to keep Burley and the New Forest safe. We are incredibly grateful. ❤️
A huge thank you too to Forestry England and their teams, along with all the emergency services, volunteers and everyone else working behind the scenes. It’s been an enormous effort, and we are so lucky to have so many people looking after our corner of the Forest.
And then there’s Burley.
Once again, our little village has shown exactly what community means. The generosity, food, supplies, messages of support and people simply asking, “What can I do to help?” have been amazing. You’ve all stepped up when it mattered.
So, from all of us at The Wathen Bartlett, we’d like to say thank you in the best way we know how…
🍻 BEERS & CHEERS! 🍻
We’d love to welcome all the emergency service personnel, Forestry England staff, crews and volunteers involved in the firefighting effort, along with our wonderful Burley community, to join us at the Wathen Bartlett.
📅 Thursday 20th August
⏰ From 4:30pm
Come along, have a drink, catch your breath and let us raise a glass to everyone who has worked so incredibly hard to protect our village and our Forest.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we’re delighted that drinks for emergency service personnel will be completely FREE. 🍻❤️
Burley looks after its own. ❤️
We’ll see you at the pub. 🍻

Well... that's not quite how we all pictured the weekend going! 😭⚽🍺
Like the rest of the country, we're absolutely gutted England won't be in the World Cup Final.
Unfortunately, we won't be showing the 3rd place play-off as we've got a private party that was booked long before anyone started dreaming of football coming home!
We're really sorry for the short notice. With England's run in the tournament, we were all hoping we'd be talking about the Final instead! As always, we're honouring a booking that was made well in advance.
Thanks for your understanding. The beer will still be cold, the banter will still be flowing, and we'll see you all back at the bar very soon. 🍻❤️
