More than 200 independent artists, designers and makers are heading to Bristol Beacon for this year's Made in Bristol Gift Fair, with three dates to discover something special for Christmas! 🎁

From handmade jewellery and ceramics to Christmas decorations, colourful prints, candles and craft kits, there's plenty to explore, with different makers appearing across the three events.

One in four families with young children can't always afford basics such as nappies, soap and toothpaste. This Christmas, a Bristol charity is asking for your help. 🎄❤️

Baby Bank Network Bristol has launched its Santa’s Sack Appeal, inviting schools, nurseries, businesses and community groups to collect essential toiletries for mums and babies.

And from 1–8 December, donations through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will be DOUBLED!

🎉 50 years of Golden Valley Primary School!

Pupils and staff at the Nailsea school stepped back into the 1970s to celebrate a very special birthday, complete with fancy dress, a themed lunch and memories from five decades of school life.

The celebrations also included a new library space, created to inspire future generations of young readers.

🏆 Fairfield High School is among the most improved secondary schools in England for attendance!

The school has received a National School Attendance Award, placing it in the top 25% of the most improved FFT secondary schools across the country.

The achievement recognises the work of staff, students and families to overcome barriers to attendance, including investment in wellbeing support and a dedicated attendance team.

Principal Edel Cronin praised the achievement as "a real team effort", with the school determined to build on its success.

That's the remarkable praise given to Ashton Park School and Sixth Form in South Bristol, which has received TWO prestigious recognitions for its commitment to helping every young person succeed! Ashton Park School (Official) 👏

The school has achieved the Inclusion Quality Mark Inclusive School Award and been named a Centre of Excellence, with assessors praising its family atmosphere, specialist support, enrichment opportunities and strong relationships with parents and students.

Headteacher Richard Uffendell says the achievement reflects two years of hard work across the whole school community.

🎂 70 YEARS OF GORDANO SCHOOL – AND WHAT A WAY TO CELEBRATE!

Students at Gordano School in Portishead have been getting creative in the kitchen, launching the school's 70th birthday celebrations with a spectacular interhouse cake Bake Off!

🎉 A whole year of special celebrations ahead

And there's much more to come, including a journey through seven decades of school dinners and a special Creative Arts Festival in summer 2027.

🚨 £11.5 MILLION is being invested to help young people in Bristol train for their futures!

A major new funding boost will help create more opportunities for young people to gain practical skills, access training and prepare for careers – particularly in construction, where skilled workers are urgently needed.

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is investing £11.5 million over the next three years to improve training facilities and help people develop the skills employers are looking for.
