What an amazing day of darts yesterday at our adult and youth pairs.
Parents and kids, guardians and kids teamed up for our second outing of this event.
The first stage of the competition was a round robin insuring all the players got multiple games throughout the afternoon, and reduced our numbers down to a final 8 for the quarter finals.
The quarter finals onwards the format changed from a standard pairs game to a format that pitted youth against youth and adult against adult in best of 3 matches, along with a pairs game should they have need it.
This format suited all the remaining pairs as all quarter finals went to a deciding pairs game.
It was much the same in the semi finals as once again both games went the distance, with last times runners up, father and son pairing, Pete Gazeley and Noah Gazeley narrowly overcoming Hull pairing Mike and Theo Laws whilst in the other semi finals myself and Ethan Gadd narrowly scrapping though against the competitions youngest entry Arthur and his dad Jon Pearce.
Onto the the final and it was yet another game that went the distance, with the format upped to best of 5 in each part of the final the scores stood at 1-1 as it entered the pairs.
Myself and Ethan raced into a 2 nil lead only to be dragged back into the match with Pete and Noah leveling the game at 2 -2. Onto the final leg of the day and it didnt disappoint, a well timed 180 from myslef to leave Ethan a handy 2 dart finish was to no avail as Pete stepped up and pinned the second 100 checkout of the match to take the win and the top prize.
A special mention for Arthur in his first ever event for making the semi finals. Both your darts and conduct throughout the day were second to none.
We are glad you enjoyed your day and hope you continue along on your darting journey. Keep practicing and enjoy your new board....
Thank-you to Oscar Clark for scoring all of the final having come straight to the event from football. Missed out this time but hopefully can enter the next one.
We would like to thank everyone that came along and played along with all the spectators, without any of you events like these can not happen.
We are certainly looking forward to the next one...
Keep your eyes peeled on the page as we can hopefully squeeze another one in before Christmas ...
