Yesterday I was rewarded with the Pride of Britain, South West Region Fundraiser of the Year.

I am honoured, humbled and privileged to accept it, but I am accepting it on behalf of the team.

Alstock was never one person. It was all of us.

I also want to remember three original members of the Alstock team who are no longer with us, but who were instrumental in its success from the very beginning.

Dick Gynn. Keith Chapman. John Pearn - These guys helped put the foundations in place.

When we started in 2007, in memory of my dad, Al Hodge, they were there. They gave their time, their graft and their belief when it was still just an idea in Priory Park. Everything that followed, nearly 20 years, more than £100,000 for local and national charities, the Al Hodge Award for young musicians, stood on what they helped build.

This award is for them as much as it is for anyone still here.

To every volunteer, band, trader, sponsor and person who ever bought a ticket: thank you. You made Alstock a proud and wonderful tribute to my dad, and a proper part of this community.

I miss Dick, Keith and John. I hope they’d be proud of what we did together.

Important announcement regarding Alstock.

After careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision that Alstock will no longer continue.

Since the very first festival in 2007, Alstock has been incredibly well supported and enjoyed by the vast majority of people who attended. It has always been a proud and wonderful tribute to my dad, and I am deeply grateful for everything we achieved together over the years for our community.

This year’s Alstock marked the 20th year of my dad’s passing and I am incredibly proud that this festival, run solely by volunteers, has raised in excess of one hundred thousand pounds for both local and national charities, as well as financially supporting students through our annual Al Hodge Award.

After this years expenses have been covered and contractors paid, we are in the very fortunate position to have a significant amount of money left to donate to good local causes. The charities will be announced in due course.

This is a decision I have been carefully considering for some time.

I can’t thank you all enough for the incredible support you’ve given Alstock over the years, my wonderful team around me, the volunteers, the performers, the traders, our sponsors and every festival-goer who made it such a special part of our community.

Your support in memory of my dad has meant more than I can say.

🌾 Big thank you to everyone who came along this weekend!

This morning we donated the hay bales used at Alstock to the brilliant team at Little Margate Equestrian Therapy Ponies and Friends.

Alstock has always been about more than just the music – it’s about giving back and supporting our local community.

Hope the ponies (and all the other lovely animals) enjoy every last bit of it! ❤️
