Birmingham friends, this one’s for you. FREE POUR Syrah tasting at Vagabond Birmingham on Monday 16 February (5-8pm) with Anna, and yes, it is as good as it sounds.

It is National Syrah Day, so we’re giving the grape a whole week in the spotlight. Same grape, different personalities. Think savory, peppery Rhône Syrah on one end, big, juicy Aussie Shiraz on the other, with a few brilliant bottles sitting somewhere in between.

Five wines, poured for free, no booking, just turn up and taste how place and winemaking change the vibe of the grape you think you already know.

Swart TF is This - wine of the week! 🍇✨

“Swart TF is This” is a collaboration between Vagabond Wines, A.A Badenhorst and Not yet named wine Co.
This wine if from Swartland, South Africa and is made from 60% Grenache Blanc and 40% Palomino Grapes. It has an alcohol percentage of 12.9% and is a 2024 vintage.

Now, this wine is not a typical mass-produced “white wine”, it is a special collaboration between these 3 companies. They have curated a more characterful, adventurous, regionally expressive wine, rather than a highly polished commercial white. ‘Swart TF is This’, will appeal to drinkers who appreciate “natural,” and “out-of-the-ordinary,” wines.

The use of Palomino and Grenache Blanc is consistent with winemaking trends in Swartland. Producers like A.A. Badenhorst have been previously praised for their Palomino-based wines. They are widely reviewed, often praised for their crispness, salinity and mineral-driven complexity. Given the grape varieties and the hot dry climate of Swartland, you should expect a beautifully fresh, minerally palate. With a hint of rich apricot.

🍷Wine of the week alert🍷

This week we have a beautiful Italian (Tuscany) 2020 Sangiovese Grosso!

Scopone was purchased by the Minari family in 2021 and ever since it’s quality trajectory has soared!

To the eye this wine is pale and has an almost Pinot Noir quality- but on the pallet is deeply complex.
The red fruit tones are complimented by the Montalcino’s classic balsamic, sour cherry and to***co scents!

Come on in and try a little yourself before it’s all gone! 🍇🍷✨
