Everything on the ofrenda is there for a reason.

The cempasúchil guides the way with its color and scent. The candles light the journey back. Papel Picado brings the wind. Water refreshes the long journey, and salt purifies the spirit.

And the taco, the tequila, and the b**r? That’s how we make them feel right at home.

Come through, grab a drink, and let’s toast to the ones who never really left our table.

We are getting ready to welcome back those who’ve passed.

They say our loved ones find their way back guided by the scent of cempasúchil and good food. That’s why we’re putting all their favorites on the altar: tacos, a shot of tequila and an ice cold b**r…

You see that taco de asada in your hand? It actually took three whole worlds to end up on your plate.

Because when you think about it, Mexico already had the tortilla figured out long before anyone else got here then Spain brought the cattle across the ocean and El Norte threw the whole thing over an open flame to turn it into a culture of its own.

That’s what you’re holding right there! Hundreds of years of flavor wrapped in warm corn.

Grab a seat, let me open a cold b**r for you and take a bite before it gets cold!

At Tizoc, a basket of chips with beans lands in the middle of the table… Phones go away, hands reach in and that first bite says it all!

Add great music, an ice cold b**r, your favorite people and just like that you are not going anywhere..

To us, sharing means food in the center, everyone diving in and fighting for the last chip.

I’ve spent enough nights behind this bar to know a good drink becomes part of a bigger story.

Some of those friends live far away now. But sometimes, one sip brings them close again.

That’s what mezcal means to me.

Two years, is that right? Woooow!

Two years of tacos across the bar, margaritas on the table, familiar faces walking through the door…

Some of you have been here since the beginning. Some found us somewhere along the way. And some walked in for the first time just last week.

To everyone who has shared a meal, brought a friend, ordered dinner, sat at our bar, celebrated something with us, or simply came back:

Thank you!!!

These two years have been full of good food, long nights, new friendships and more great moments than we could possibly fit into one post.

We’ve loved being part of this neighbourhood.

Here’s to two years of El Hijo de Tizoc, and everything still to come.

The World Cup
México has hosted three World Cups. In 1970 Brazil got crowned with the first one and 1986 Argentina got it after the hand of God (Maradona) scored in the quarter final against England; I meant they defeated Germany in the final.

Hosting the world cup in 2026 for the third time is being the greatest experience ever.
When I was a kid I was told that our football league has not reached the standards of the South American or European soccer competitions, and as a teenager I was yelled at because we were not at the level of these powerful countries.

To make matters worse, yesterday someone came across to thank me for hosting the games at Tizoc and reminded me that sadly we are never going to hold the World Cup in our hands no matter how many times we hosted it. So I said………Y Si, Si?
