The Dakota Tavern is no longer brick and mortar. It wasn’t before it opened but it was always there it seems. Waiting for a community to claim it. Waiting for people to call it their own. There is no new brick and mortar in the cards. But the community exists. If you’d like us to promote your song, or your show regardless of where you are let us know. Coast to Coast, territory to small town, big city to suburb. This community remains a community. A community of singers and songwriters, song and dance troubadours, music lovers and judgers, on lookers and mainstays. We miss each other, we need each other. Let’s use this as a space to stay close. Keep an eye out for a pop up or two.
I love, you love, we love. If you have a song , a show , a thought, an inspired thought, share it here. Let it be a safe space for creativity love and respect. Dm and I’ll post it . That simple. All love everyone.
Shawn❤️

As of yesterday, the Dakota Tavern is under new ownership.

The Dakota will now be closed for a period of time to undergo renovations before reopening.

We would like to thank all of the bands, patrons and staff for making the Dakota Tavern a successful live-music venue over the years.

We would particularly like to thank Evan Bootle, the lead sound technician, for his dedication and professionalism over the years. As the longest-serving employee of the Dakota Tavern, he has ensured the outstanding sound-quality that has been a hallmark of the Dakota for many years.

We wish the new ownership the very best in what is going to be an exciting period of renewal and rejuvenation for the Dakota Tavern. We hope that all of you will be part of this exciting future that will help to keep live music in Toronto vibrant and successful.

All the best to everyone,

Stephen and Anthony (former proprietors)

LUCID SMOG DISORDER () is a rock band from Toronto, Canada. They are known for their loud, in-your-face attitude, aggressive yet campy punk tunes, and Doris' pessimistic yet hopeful lyrics. While they are still a rather small band, in every show they play they get the crowd on their side and rock even the smallest club like it's Shea Stadium. In the summer of 2021, the boys locked themselves in the studio until their self-produced record was finished. Engineered and mixed by Jack Doris, "Psychedelicacy" is an honest expression of mental health, self-medication, and coming of age. Promoting the record Lucid Smog Disorder has played across southern Ontario at venues like Bovine S*x Club (Toronto), The Killroom (Hamilton), Avant - Garde (Ottawa), Sneaky Dee's (Toronto) & Warehouse Concert Hall (St. Catharines) headlining their own shows and opening for bands like Lime Ricky and Canadian icons Gob.
