From your coeliac publican, who rarely eats out.

Anyone can put "GF" on a menu. There's no test to pass, no one checking, no consequence if the tongs went into the wrong tray. Which is why, if you have coeliac disease, "we do gluten free" tells you almost nothing. It tells you what's on the plate. It tells you nothing about what happened in the ten minutes before it got there.

That's the gap. And it's the reason a lot of us just stop going out. Not because there's nothing to eat, but because the mental work of ordering is exhausting and the cost of getting it wrong is days of your life.

The Port Admiral is a proper pub with a full menu. I'm not going to tell you there's no gluten on site, because there is but there isn’t any in the kitchen ❤️. What’s more we did the other thing: we got the kitchen certified with Coeliac Australia. A GF kitchen, trained staff, and an external audit that checks we're actually doing what we say.

Not a promise from me. A process someone else verifies.

You can still ask the questions. Ask them, it's a good habit. But the answers here have been checked by someone other than the bloke who wants your money.

Order the fish and chips. Have a beer. Stroll along the water. That's the point.
