Dear Adelaide Friends who were patrons of

This portrait of Carla, who I am proud to call a friend, who is basically furniture of Adelaide hospitality and artistic expression and a total gee; has gone missing from The Liv as we have gone to collect it in the mess of being kicked out. It hung proudly above the bar, and this painting is very loved by the Adelaide scene so much so it deserves to be enjoyed in a proper home. Sadly it’s current home is ambiguous.

This was painted by my dear friend , who is also a special person and my favourite Adelaide artist, and we would like to find it. If someone has taken it to make sure it hasn’t been lost then please let me know. I assume one of the Olivia faithful has taken custody to make sure it is safe but of course any help returning it is “no questions asked.”

THESE MACHINES KILL FASCISTS

Despite being willing and able to honour my rental agreement I have had the locks changed on me at Olivia. Then, the rent for the month that I was not willing to pay due to being told I would not be able to trade, has been posted in the window as arrears. This is why I haven’t been able to accept money from the hundreds of people who have been offering to fund the old haunt.

I want to thank everyone who helped me recover the personal possessions that the landlord was selling off and to all the beautiful messages of support including regulars I don’t know personally offering me work, Mi Goreng two minute noodles, canned baked beans, peace and love. My locals are on point point I love you people so much.

I want to acknowledge the small business that rely on Olivia to trade and make special mention to Ben, Owen and Pluto who are particularly affected. To those who lost their property in the debacle and to those whose hard work has been taken down off the walls, nights by the fire now gone un-drunken and hearts full now slightly broken. We really tore those nights up into pieces didn’t we.

I want to say thank thank you to Scotty, Trip, Doon, Viv, Til, Key, Rob, Mark and all of you, you know who you are. Peter & B grade my rainbow team, Dave you are the truth, Raz you ARE the Olivia and all the people who made the party. The Olivia lives on in us so make sure you represent and I’ll see you on my next adventure.

We are the Olivia, as Biggy says; and if you don’t know now you know.

I just kept looking at the side of her face
In the spotlight so clear.
And later on as the crowd thinned out
I was just about to do the same.
When she was standing there at the side of my chair saying, “Tell me don’t I know your name?”
I muttered something underneath my breath
And she studied the lines on my face.
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe.
Tangled up in blue.
She lit a burner on the stove
And offered me a pipe.
“I thought you’d never say hello,” she said
“You look like the silent type”
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me.
Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century.
And every one of the words rang true
And glowed like burning coal,
