139 years old and still the most iconic address on Railway Street.

Started out as the Grand Primo Hotel in 1887. Became the Merewether Hotel in 1890. The building still standing today went up in 1948, and in 1957 it took on the name it's known by now – the Mary Ellen, after licensee Mary Ellen Thomas.

Every era of Merewether has had a seat at this bar. "Iconic" isn't a big call when you've earned it for over a century.
