🍻 No bookings are required for our upstairs bar area — simply walk in, grab a drink and settle in for the action!

Back performing all your favourite hits from 1pm – 4pm.
🙌 No bookings required, so bring your friends, grab a drink and enjoy the afternoon!

Our Memorabilia - Stories of Service 🎖️

The Royal Australian Airforce (RAAF) had its beginnings as the Australian Flying Corps (AFC) on the 30th December 1911 when the Commonwealth Government advertised for two machinists/aviators. The first squadron formed in 1912 and the Central Flying School (Point Cook) a year later. This fledging force consisted of five aircraft including a Bristol Boxkite.

The AFC operated as a branch of the Australian army (AIF) during the First World War and acquitted themselves with distinction while operating mainly in conjunction with the British Royal Flying Corps.
Following the war, in 1921, the AFC became the Australian Air Force and was then granted royal status in August of the same year. It is interesting to note that Australia was the only British dominion to form its own flying corps during this conflict.

Women have been an integral part of the RAAF since 1940, initially as nurses, then as the Women’s Auxiliary Airforce (WAAAF) and then as the Women’s Royal Australian Airforce (WRAAF) from 1951. In 1977, the WRAAF was disbanded and women became fully integrated in all aspects of the RAAF.

Our display features photographs of many of the aircraft operated over the last century. We also have on display a uniform donated to us by RAAF Corporal Bramell who was apart of our ANZAC Catafalque party in 2003. She donated this to us in 2006 and it has been on display since in representing our women in the Airforce.

This display will be up for the next few weeks in our Memorabilia Area until late October.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day here at Montmorency Eltham RSL! 💙

A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us for lunch or dinner. We had two busy, booked-out sessions, and it was fantastic to see so many families coming together to celebrate Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa. 👨‍👧‍👦
