MHSS - Monash Hellenic Students Society

Monash Hellenic Students' Society - Monash Greek Club MHSS is putting the kick back into your Zorba.

Established in 2006, the club has seen the creation of our incorporated association, received corporate sponsorship and much more! We have strengthened ties with Greek and non-Greek students, staff, businesses, other cultural societies and the broader community. We run cultural and social events, on-campus and off-campus too joint together with NUGAS. With many MHSS committee members being involved in NUGAS Victoria, we have helped organise the Annual NUGAS Ball, Boat Cruises and Nightclub Events. Our MHSS events have included our infamous souvlaki barbecues, annual Tavern
Night, on-campus soccer tournaments, general meetings, participation in cultural marches, Monash One World Week, O-Week stalls and so much more! If you've got blue-and-white fever, or feel the urge to attend toga-themed parties and trivia nights, join MHSS today - we embrace new members like a plate of lamb at the end of nistia! TAVERN NIGHT REIMAGINED 2026

Photos are out! Find the full folder at the LINK IN OUR BIO!!

Thank you to all attendees. We hope you had an incredible night!

We also extend our deepest gratitude to Caffé Greco Athenian Grill and the Zampelis family, whose generosity made the 2026 MHSS Tavern Night Reimagined possible.

The evening was an astounding success, bringing our community together in the beautiful The Apollo Room - Function Venue for an exceptional celebration of Hellenic culture, complemented by Caffé Greco’s delicious food and beverages.

Rooted in Greek tradition and hospitality, Caffé Greco has long been a cherished part of Melbourne’s dining landscape, bringing people together through a shared appreciation for Greek cuisine and culture.

We encourage our community to visit Caffé Greco in Oakleigh to experience the Greek hospitality that has made this year’s Tavern Night so special.

The MHSS is very proud and glad to share that classes for the MHSS x GCM Modern Greek Language program recently wrapped up for the 2026 intake! We’d like to take a moment to reflect on this incredible initiative and thank all those involved.

We first and foremost extend our gratitude to the incomparable Anthi Tzani, who ran an incredible program; her involvement is the very reason this program was able to come into fruition. Amazingly, she adapted to a much larger than expected cohort (of over 80 students!) and provided an exceptional quality of education to all participants.

This program was an initiative of our very own 2026 Social/Cultural Officer, Elena Tsilimantou, who, along with our General Committee member Artemis Galazoula, played an integral role as teacher’s aide. Elena’s vision came to life with the support and partnership of the Greek Community of Melbourne Language Schools.

To all participants, we truly hope you enjoyed the program and found it beneficial in facilitating your connection to the Modern Greek language. To anybody that has expressed interest in partaking in the future, we are proud to announce that, due to this intake’s success, the Program will be returning in 2027 - we will be releasing more information on this in the new year!!!
