🧡 Dread Empire Dreadlock Soaks are In Stock🧡

If you’ve never used a dreadlock soak before, you are missing out!

Over time, things like sweat, scalp oils, product residue, dust and general everyday grime can build up deeper inside the dreadlock where shampoo doesn’t always reach quite as effectively.

A soak gives your dreadlocks a chance to get a deeper clean. Soaks will soften everything up and release some of that deeper build-up before you rinse and wash as normal.

They’re not something you need every wash, but they can be really handy when your dreadlocks are feeling a little heavy, dull, or a stubbornly not-quite-clean feeling. Most of my clients do one every 8-12 months (usually about now cause Spring cleaning 🌱🌸) but some people may opt for more frequently due to their lines of work or hobbies.

I’ve currently got a small assortment of Dread Shop dreadlock soaks in different scents in studio and online.
Stock is limited in each scent, so once a particular one is gone, it’s gone for this batch.

You can grab your dread soak (and other goodies!) over at https://www.wovenwildshair.com.au/ for click n collect or shipping direct to you door.

WE HAVE VICTORY. 😆

After several hours of arguing with redirects, domains and the general concept of the internet… I fixed it. 😂

The old website links are now correctly redirecting to the new web domain, so either website link will get you where you need to go and booked in as normal. 🦊

So you can grab your spot now over at
www.evelynjadecreations.com OR www.wovenwildshair.com.au

The website itself is still very much mid-makeover while I switch everything over to the new branding, so you may spot a few old bits hanging around aesthetically for now.

But the important part: IT WORKS. 😆

Thank you for your patience while I fought for my life in the internets. 🤦🏻‍♀️ You can resume your normal booking, reading and website browsing now.

So I’ve started the process of switching everything over to the new Woven Wilds branding… and apparently the internet has chosen violence today. 😅

While I was setting up the redirects from the old website links to the shiny new ones, the old links decided to glitch out completely. Very helpful. 🤦🏻‍♀️

So if you’re trying to book an appointment and the usual link is being a jerk, please head straight to the new website here:

https://www.wovenwildshair.com.au/

Everything is still there and working normally through the new site. The redirect just needs to finish sorting itself out.

Meanwhile, I’ll be over here negotiating with the internet gods for approximately one crumb of cooperation. 😆

Sorry for any inconvenience while everything gets shuffled over!

Quiet sessions are so funny because from the outside I probably look deeply focused on making your hair fabulous. Which, don't get me wrong, I totally am!
Buuuut... My brain has the ability to multitask a little more than I would like sometimes.

While you chill or read your book, my brain is playing one random sentence on loop (probably a stupid line from a movie), remembering something embarrassing from 2014, planning three completely unrelated tasks, and somehow also singing half a chorus I haven’t heard in ten years.

So if we’re sitting there in peaceful silence, just know there is absolutely nothing peaceful happening upstairs. 😂

A little sneak peek at some of the temporary hair options I’ve been playing with lately. 👀

I love permanent dreadlocks, obviously, but sometimes you might want the fun without the commitment or, maybe, you have dreadlocks currently and want a bit of extra volume.

So I’ve been working on a few different ways to add dreadlocks and braids temporarily, including hair tie pieces, claw clips and clip-in extension pieces.

I’m still getting everything together properly, but I couldn’t resist giving you a tiny peek first.
I'll be dropping the first batch very soon for everyone and then, after that, I have a very spooky release coming for Halloween.

More soon — stay tuned. 🧡😉

But in the meantime... If you've been meaning to book in for some dreadlocks or braids, my September books are almost completely full and October has begun to vanish too. I highly recommend jumping over to https://www.evelynjadecreations.com/s/appointments to lock in your spot now before they are all gone.

When the stuff you guys have been asking me for finally arrives. 👀😂

A few very requested goodies have officially landed in the studio, including:

🫧 Dreadlock soaks in a range of scents
🖤 Bendable dreadlock ties
🚿 XL shower caps that actually have room for a full head of dreadlocks

I’ve had so many requests for more practical dreadlock care bits, especially heading into the warmer months, so I’m very happy to finally have these sitting on the shelves.
I have a few other goodies in the works very soon but these babies started flying off the shelves before I even officially unpacked them. 😅 So I can't hold off releasing them to you guys online as well.

Some of these items are only here in limited quantities, particularly the dreadlock soaks, so if there’s something you’ve been waiting for, now is probably a good time to grab it before your favourite disappears.

Shop online for click n collect or postage to your door over at https://www.evelynjadecreations.com/

“Am I too old for dreadlocks?”

No. Next question. 😂

Ok, but really...
There is no secret age where suddenly you are too old to have your dreadlocks, braids, colour, shaved sides or anything else that makes you feel a bit more like yourself.
If you’ve been thinking about dreadlocks or braids for years, you’re allowed to just… get them.

Societal norms have taught generations of people (and especially women) that we have to appear and behave in a particular manner that is deemed "acceptable". And that acceptability is heavily based on this insane idea that once we hit a certain age we can no longer enjoy certain things.
We don't just see this with self expression such as hair, tattoos, piercings, or clothes, but we also see it with things like enjoying cartoons, for example. Nobody is too old to watch their favourite cartoon or colour in or wear those fun outfits or colour their hair.

Are you getting what I'm putting down? Cause this is one of those topics I could go on and on about for days but I won't bore you guys with my rants. 😆

So if the only thing holding you back is “maybe I’m too old for this,” consider that thought officially evicted from your mental vocabulary.
Your hair is YOURS. If you want to do something cool with it, then damn well do it because life is too short to miss out on the fun stuff.

And to REALLY finalise my point on this topic that I'm super passionate about:
This is a photo is of my Pop. He was never the type to get dreadlocks. In fact, I would've bet my last dollar he never would've let me do this. But last year he walked in at random and said "I want you to give me dreadlocks" and made me eat my hat because he proved to me that it literally doesn't matter — age doesn't define a damn thing.

Inspired? Or maybe I just bullied you into doing the thing? 😂

QOTD because it's been a bit of a hot topic in the chair as of late:
Do you like your dreadlocks looking freshly maintained, or do you prefer them once they’ve had a little time to settle back in?

This one is likely to split the dread world down the middle because everyone has such a different idea of when their dreadlocks look “best.” Some people love that freshly maintained feeling, some prefer a bit of fluff and movement, and some are firmly in the “leave them alone until absolutely necessary” side of the debate.

There’s really no one correct answer. Dreadlocks have a habit of developing their own personality anyway. But, for any of my longer term clients who saw me with my dreadlocks (they're coming back soon, I swear!) then you guys know I'm pretty big on keeping mine maintained and tight.

Where do you sit in this debate? Fresh and tidy, lived-in and fluffy, or somewhere in the middle? Comment and let me know. 💬

And maybe this has reminded you that you need to book maintenance too... You can do that right here 👉🏻 https://www.evelynjadecreations.com/s/appointments with the brand new simplified booking options.

So remember yesterday's dreadlock recovery mission? Well, here's what else we did for her.

(If you haven't seen yesterdsts post, you totally should.)

She decided she wanted two dreadlocks instead of the just the one. Her vision was the cut her existing in dreadlock in half to use it as an extension for the new one. I totally loved this idea and said 'hell yeah, let's do it".

So I created that matching dreadlock on the opposite side, then took half the length from her incredibly long original dreadlock and used it to extend the new one. Now the two sit as a balanced pair with a bit of the original dreadlock in each side.

Dreadlocks can be repaired, strengthened, reshaped and even thoughtfully repurposed like this when their length or structure allows. It doesn’t always have to mean losing something that holds a lot of meaning.
It is actually a lovely challenge to be trusted to come up with a plan for when someone needs something important or special to be added or shuffled so it can stay for longer.

There’s just something so special about being trusted to work on dreadlocks that carry this much personal and spiritual significance. Getting to help preserve their story while giving them the strength to keep going is something I’ll never take lightly.

If you would like some help with a meaningful part of your dreadlock journey, I'm always happy to help.
The best way to begin planning is to book in a free consult so we can go over all your options.

You can do that over at https://www.evelynjadecreations.com/s/appointments
