Finals Update.

Australia's Natalie Lewis was defeated by New Zealand's Mandy Boyd in two outstanding sets of quality bowls.

Natalie agained showed her determined trade mark approach. Natalie should be proud of her efforts and a Silver Medal is a significant achievement.

Mandy's consistancy was there for all to see and in the end was the difference.

Set 1 Mandy 5, Natalie 4, second set Mandy 7, Natalie 5, that's how close it was.

Congratulations to both players.

Our own Max Kleinig was on fire during the first set, answering every challenge and playing brilliant bowls. The first end told the story with all eight bowls within 18 inches of the jack. Max took the first set 7 to 4.

As with world class bowls and bowlers they can dig deep and that's what Scotland's Iain McLean did, starting the second set well and maintaining the margin winning 7 to 3.

The Tie Breaker was cut throat with Iain consistantly nailing the jack, picking up 3 shots on the first end and then 2 on the second, game over, gold to Iain and silver to Max.

What a spectacle what a game, again congratulations to both players.

To our Max, his campaign was magnificent, he was undefeated until the final, only loosing 2 sets and 1 tie breaker in 10 games.

The Port Noarlunga Bowling Club are so proud of our champion, a great bowler but a better ambassador. Max and his family should be justly proud.

Well Done Max, Natalie and go Porties.

Finals Day World Bowls Champion of Champions

With all to play for all competitors had an opportunity to grab a final spot and a chance for a World title.

Australian representatives Max Kleinig and Natalie Lewis had done everything right to grab their chance.

Max took on Canada's Pat Bird. Max started well winning the first set 8 shots to 2. With 2 ends to go in the second set Max was 8 shots to 2 up and looking safe. With only one bowl remaining on second to last end Pat drove, Max appeared to have all bases covered, he thought. When the dust settled after the drive Pat was holding 4 shots, game on!

Max remained focussed and held 2 shots on the last end, securing a Finals spot.

Natalie took on England's Stef Branfield. The first set saw Stef get away to a great start being 5 shots to nil up. While Nat fought back Stef won 8 to 6.

The second sets third end changed the game with Natalie picking up 4 shots and she never looked back. Taking the second set 6 shots to 4.

The Tie Breaker saw Natalie's trade mark determination come through winning 3 to 1 and a Grand Final spot.

Max plays Scotland's Iain McLean, in the final at 4.00 pm, 3.30 SA time. It should be a terrific game.

Natalie takes on New Zealand"s Mandy Boyd, start at 2.00 pm, 1.30 SA time.

Go Max, Go Natalie, Go Aussie's!
