Mural honouring Khai Cowley and all surfers
We are seeking community feedback on a proposal by the family and friends of Khai Cowley to install a memorial mural on the east wall of the Seaford amenities block, facing the Esplanade at Seaford. Local artist Mike Sander has offered his labour and materials for free as a gesture to support the family and community in remembering Khai.

There is currently a mural painted by artist Paul Alexander which is 10 years old and reaching its end of life. The proposal for this new mural will replace the existing artwork.

The mural is intended to commemorate the life of 15-year-old Khai, who tragically passed away following a shark attack on the Yorke Peninsula in 2023. Council would also install a plaque which honours all surfers alongside Khai.
