Hillside Tavern opened its doors for business for the first time on 18 October 1989. Husband and wife team - Francois and Nicola have been partners in the restaurant from the very beginning and bought out their previous partners in 2013. Since then they have been very focused on making the trip to Hillside a fun affair. Hillside has won a couple of accolades over the years but in the end it is al

l about our customers and not about winning competitions. Hillside really is a “family” business since many staff members; both kitchen staff, as well as front of house staff have been part of the team for many of the 33 years of existence. This is also the secret to the consistency in our service and food and mood. Hillside had a complete revamp during 2014 which included the addition of an outside patio area. This area is great for summer lunchtimes and dinners and especially for a late afternoon drink under the trees. The interior was transformed from the heavy dark wooded feel to a much lighter and friendlier ambiance. Management’s motto is still to stay focused on the basics of creating an inviting and warm atmosphere with friendly, personal but professional service and still serving only the best possible food. We cannot do this without all our loyal and committed staff members. We strive to make the whole eating out experience at Hillside a special one every time. Francois and Kevin have worked hard over the past 2 years to develop a rather diverse menu, with of course various signature dishes that have become favourites to our many regulars as well as newcomers over many years. There is a dish on our menu that will send anybody’s taste buds into overdrive. Our wine list is also very diverse and caters for most peoples’ taste and budget. Enjoy a one of a kind dining experience at Hillside Tavern.

Our beloved Hillside community cat Basjaan is missing. We suspect he might have been mistaken as a stray and taken home by a customer. This is not the case as he has been well looked after and loved by the staff and customers since 2022 and we miss him dearly! 🐾 He’s part of our family here, bringing joy to staff and guests alike. If you’ve seen him or know where he is, please help us bring him back to his home at Hillside Tavern. Thank you for helping reunite us with our furry friend!
