We began as an events venue focused on showcasing the arts and all the incredible talent that exists in our country, from live music to comedy and theatre plays. Once established and trusted as a premier theatre experience, we then added our deep passion for the culinary world by introducing a cafe bistro to our venue. We now offer two seperate experiences woven together with gentleness, care, passion and love. Our café bistro is open daily from 5 - 10pm unless we have a performance in our theatre. At The Courtyard is seeking an experienced chef to join our independently owned à la carte bistro and theatre venue as we move into an exciting new stage of growth.

This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must have meaningful experience in a quality à la carte bistro or restaurant kitchen and be confident taking full responsibility for a section during service.

The successful chef will work alongside and lead a kitchen assistant, taking shared responsibility for preparation, service, organisation, cleanliness and consistency within the section.

We are looking for someone who is:

* Calm, disciplined and organised during service.
* Technically capable and confident working independently.
* Passionate about food, hospitality and consistent standards.
* Reliable and available for evening and weekend services.
* Interested in contributing to a growing restaurant and our future small-plates and tapas space.

Experience with fresh pasta, pizza, grill, seafood, sauces, small plates or pastry would be an advantage.

Please send a detailed CV, contactable references, a short introduction, examples of food you have personally prepared and plated.

Applications without relevant à la carte restaurant or bistro experience will not be considered.

Shortlisted candidates will receive the complete position description and be invited to an interview and paid practical trial shift
