Happy 45th Birthday, Captain Parker’s!

In 1981, Gerry Manning opened the doors to Captain Parker’s with a simple vision: serve great food, welcome every guest like family, and create a place people would want to return to again and again.

What began as Gerry’s dream and summer side hustle alongside his career as a Boston Public School teacher has grown into one of New England’s most beloved restaurants. For 45 years, Gerry has tirelessly led Captain Parker’s through every challenge and opportunity, always with the same unwavering commitment to quality, hospitality, and community. Today, when we look at Captain Parker’s, we see a bustling Cape Cod landmark that thousands of guests have made part of their summer tradition. But that success did not happen overnight. Through economic ups and downs, changing times, harsh winters, busy summers, a global pandemic, and countless other challenges along the way, Gerry’s dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence never wavered.

At an age when most people have long since retired, Gerry continues to show up with the same passion, determination, and hands-on leadership that inspired him to open Captain Parker’s in 1981. His work ethic, resilience, and love for the community remain as strong today as they were 45 years ago, serving as an inspiration to all of us who have the privilege of working alongside him.

We are incredibly proud of Gerry and everything he has built. His hard work and leadership have created more than a restaurant, they have created a gathering place filled with memories for generations of guests, employees, and families.
This milestone is also a testament to the remarkable team members, past and present, who have worked alongside the Manning family throughout the years. Their dedication, passion, and commitment to hospitality have helped make Captain Parker’s what it is today.

Thank you to our staff, our loyal guests, and our community for being part of this journey. We are honored to celebrate 45 years of tradition, and we look forward to many more years of serving Cape Cod together.
