Orchid Island Brewery is a small family owned & operated company based out of Vero Beach, FL. OIB has built a reputation for incorporating local Indian River citrus into IPA's and sour beers. Mixing a global view and a local knowledge, the brewery has allowed us to follow an affinity since our first beer was brewed in 2008. Along the way came the home brew shops, the beer competitions, the friends and the bottle share parties, going Pro, the good and the bad, the collaboration trips, and the stokedness. The town of Orchid Island and Indian River County originated around the citrus industry. The area is widely recognized as a region that grows the planet's best citrus. During winter months when citrus is in its peak harvest, cold snaps sweeten the citrus. If it freezes, it spoils however. What makes Orchid Island unique is its proximity to the ocean and the Indian River lagoon. During the worst winter cold fronts, the ocean and river have a warming affect on the island that keeps the fruit above freezing. The combination of OIB's geography and climate are what lend to a deep sense of place.

Now on tap - 1912 Indian River Pale Ale

We’re celebrating Vero’s citriculture heritage with a legacy pale ale; double dry hopped with Citra, Galaxy & Simcoe West Coast style, and double dry zested with heirloom Ruby Red Grapefruits & Bearss Lemons for a classically Indian River finish.

The 19th century ended with multiple devastating freezes in what is now Indian River County, prompting many settlers to move south, opening opportunities for local expansion.

1912 brought the creation of The Indian River Farms Company and true commercial citrus groves to Vero. The tipping point where Indian River Citrus crossed over from a settlers staple to a true delicacy eventually earning its own designation status and culturally referred to as the “champagne of citrus.”

It wouldn’t take long for the superior fruit with colorful crate label lithographs to be world renowned, desired and counterfeited. Enjoy in that tradition with this certified Indian River Citrus treated, American brewed Pale Ale.

Indian River Hazy IPA with Ruby Red Grapefruit

Moon Glow is a reflection of late summer nights, scattered thunderheads out to sea, a blanket like marine layer over the island groves often veils a large moon that hints at harvest while the news talks of the tropics.

As luminous and cloudy as the mix of seasons, we double dry hopped this Hazy IPA with Mosaic, Riwaka, & Galaxy, zested with Ruby Red Grapefruit for a flowery and aromatic finish.

Best enjoyed on a humid moonlit night, when you’re torn between discussing hurricane track predictions and autumnal activities.
